Why We Will Win this game (and what to watchout for)

Why We Will Win

1. If we get up early, it's pretty much over. The Ravens don't have much of a passing game, they lack high quality wide receivers. If we get down it's anything but over.

2. Two of the Ravens best players are old! Their #1 receiver (Mason) turns 36 Sunday. If he's the best they have that is great. Ray Lewis is 34 (he's still awesome but not as good as he once was as Toby Keith says).

3. P Nasty is going to own them. Their secondary (except for Ed Reed) is not great. This could turn into a blowout.

4. Their offensive line is not great. They allowed several sacks against the Steelers, and reports are that their left tackle Gaither is injured. Freeney and Mathis could embarass them, and have a big (albeit fast) target in 6'6 Flacco.

5. Flacco is not very accurate and possibly will still be slightly injured. If we can stop the run it will be a problem for them.

6. Our pass protection is excellent, and Peyton gets the ball out fast. Their weak secondary needs a good pass rush and I don't think they will get it. Peyton is scary good against the blitz.

What to Watchout For

1. Ed Reed. Enough said.

2. Ray Rice - we saw what he can do, even though we contained him last time we played.

3. Their large offensive line pushing our line around and running it down our throat. Don't think this will happen our linebackers will clean up anything that gets through. Brackett will have a great game.

4. Terrell Suggs. This guy is good against both run and pass. We do not want to see him bothering Manning.

5. Mistakes. Without them we will win.

I am pumped about this game I think we will win by 10+ (Vegas has the line at 6).  Should be fun. I like the Ravens and respect Ray Lewis because he shows respect to 18, but we are going to win.

Why we should win.

Flacco has been leaning on check downs all year. If the Colts commit to stopping the run on 1st and 2nd down, it all comes down to tackling Rice on his check down short completion to get off the field.

Manning is playing at another level this season. I feel this way every year and he continues to get even better.

Defense is going to be so pumped up for this game, crowd should be very roudy (all day to get the beer juices going) and the players will be ready to shut up any critics that talk about that damn Jets game.

Turnovers will be key just like they always are. Colts need to limit turnovers on offense, it doesn’t even matter whether the Ravens have turnovers or not if the Colts play mistake free.

My prediction is Colts 27-13 but I think it could really get out of hand if the Colts start out 10-0 or more…

My take..

This is my take on it….and again, this is just my opinion so feel free to bash it if you please – I think the Colts will need to come out and set the tone with Joe Addai and Donald Brown…whether it be running the ball, screen passes or dump-offs for YAC. Why? Well, if our offensive line can establish some sort of dominance with the early start, then I really think 3 things will happen -

1) The DBs will have to respect the run and short passes which spells out some potential playaction passes for the home run ball.

2) What Blitz? – The best blitz beater is the short or quick pass…this could set the tone as to how the Ravens will try to attack Manning…if we are picking up 5+ yrds on short completions and runs against the blitz, the Ravens D might hold back to stop the bleeding in their open zones caused by blitzing and this may give Peyton an opportunity to start sitting in the pocket later during the course of the game and pick apart that defense.

3) If our O-line dominates, our D-line will be absolutely inspired to kick some ass…even Freeney had mentioned that the Colts defense always wants to be the best defense on gameday, so if our O-line handles their business, our D-Line will want to match their energy and continue to one-up the Ravens D-line. Remember, it all starts in the trenches!

GO COLTS!!!!

Awesome Video

http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-playoffs/09000d5d815c01cf/Divisional-Playbook-Ravens-vs-Colts

This is a fantastic 3 minute analysis of how /why Manning hardly ever gets sacked.
First they show how Maroney failed to block for Brady in last week’s game which resulted in a big sack, and is probably why Maroney didn’t play for the rest of the game.

Then they show how Addai and Donald Brown pick up the blitz and allow Manning to stay upright. Great stuff!

Dallas Clark’s route running is featured in the second half of this analysis.

Loved the video, I can't get enough of learning what makes plays work or don't work.

Here's why we'll win,
  1. is coming. (plus, our D will dominate). Didn’t they “contain” the offensive player of the year this year, twice?

I live in Baltimore.....

These Ravens fans out here are total turncoats, their team left and most of them became Redskins fans til the Ravens came, but these guys talk a LOT of smack, like more than I can take without throwing up, but all of the few of us that are Indy fans here are very courtious and polite…we do not act as if this coming AFC championship is our birthright as they do here in Baltimore. We eat the humble pie, and we make noise where applicable (as I did at Cancun Cantina tonight, which is near BWI Airport for those that have flown here to see our Colts destroy Baltimore this year and in 2007) but I will say this, it is very hard living in this area where they still can’t get over the fact that their “team left them” so I am doing my best to be above the riff raff and carry on the prestige that is the INDIANAPOLIS COLTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will be proudly wearing my authentic-on-field Dallas Clark home jersey tomorrow night in White Marsh Maryland surrounded by the “Purple Army” and no matter the result I will make sure everyone in that bar that I am at knows they should fear what we are bringing to this game. GO COLTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ravens secondary

Has had many PI calls on them this year. Sheffer’s crew doesn’t call many penalties so hopefully they don’t get away with mugging the Colts receivers.
