Around SBN: Now They've Screwed Spurs, UEFA Willing To Review Rule

After appearing on the injury report yesterday for the first time all week with a back injury TE Tom Santi has been placed on injured reserve. His spot on the roster is taken by Practice Squad regular, TE, Colin Cloherty.

The Colts also announced that Adam Vinatieri, Antonio Johnson and Chad Simpson will not travel to Buffalo for tomorrow's game. They join Ryan Diem, Jerraud Powers, Clint Session and Gijon Robinson who were ruled out yesterday.

7 players ruled out already leaves only one more inactive spot for the 7 remaining questionable players. It looks like the Buffalo game will be played by a real skeleton crew of backups.

Well crap.

Santi showed some real promise. Bummer.

I think it had to have been a practice injury

he wasn’t on the report before Friday and in previous weeks it was a hand injury.

Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.

It's shocking how much can slip your perception

If that's the case

How ironic that it would be another practice injury that ends another player’s season and not an injury during a game that everyone is so afraid of?

In addition to that Gijon is also out at least 2-3 weeks. We need a good blocking TE in post season.

Cloherty

Has some good size, but his only experience other than practive squad/preseason is Ivy League football…kind of scary! Oh well, Santi didn’t play much anyway. Robinson should be back in time. Too bad Taj Smith had his screw up, we could have used Santi’s spot to promote him.

Wow

Vinatieri got one game in. Don’t know if the blocked XP was his fault, but I’m a little nervous about that situation going into the postseason.

Honestly, I want Stover kicking in the playoffs

I don’t see how anybody can trust Adam to be ready for the playoffs at this point. He knee is just way too unpredictable, and I’m very uncomfortable with the idea of testing it in January.. Stover’s resume isn’t quite as impressive as Vinny’s, but he’s still been pretty reliable for his entire career, in the regular and postseason. I say we stay on the course we’ve gone all season and stick with Matt.

How can you not love a team that does this?

Agree 100%

Stover has been there for us for most of the season. AV has unfortunately been injured and hasn’t been there for us this year.

I can’t trust that AV will come through if/when needed just because he did it 5, 6 and 8 years ago.

agree, even with skelton crew, vinny might not have gotten much work in buffalo, but he cannot be trusted in playoff game, likely to be close, without any work for months

Well......

that sucks.

Shame about Santi

He was a much, MUCH better blocker than Honey Gijon.

by slash196 on Jan 2, 2010 7:37 PM EST reply actions

He Totally

missed the block that would have saved the TD sack/fumble hit on Painter.

You say that like

Gijon has never completely missed a game-killing block.
