Just rewatched IND-JAC. I swear, IND DT Dan Muir gets pushed out of every play. Looks like a major weakness to me.
Football Outsiders Aaron Schatz doesn't mince words. Not good for the interior of the Colts DL.

JAX handled the Colts up front...
Pretty much man-for-man. No excuses for Muir, who has really sucked this season after impressing last year, but it’s almost unfair just to single out Muir when the Jags’ OL pretty much mauled the entire Colt DL all day.
All that said – why the hell is Antonio Johnson not getting more PT? I’m glad that Moala has improved and I’ve seen him make some decent penetration at times on the year (not consistently, mind you, but this guy was a rollerskate last year…he’s a lot better by those standards), but is he really THAT much better than Mookie? And even if so, why is A. Johnson not more heavily-involved in the rotation? It seems like, if you’re getting moved around easily up front, you’d want a guy like Antonio Johnson in there. He might not get much penetration into the backfield, but he’s a stalwart up front. He won’t get pushed around easily.
Don’t understand the DT rotation at all. Muir is bad, Moala is inconsistent, Mookie isn’t in enough and for the love of God, Keyunta Dawson should not be on this team let alone still lining up at DT. Apparently the Colts forgot THAT disaster (Dawson as DT) along with the Super Bowl.

Mookie is not listed on the Injury report,
but he is being played like he’s injured. Maybe it’s a conditioning thing? I can’t come up with anything else. He is still listed as the starter on the “official” depth chart. It’s like he’s in Coyer’s doghouse for a reason we don’t know.
Bleedin' Blue for as long as I can remember. Can you believe we get to be fans while our team has the greatest QB of all time?!?!?!
as i have mentioned in another post in reply to another fan...
Moala won the starting job, per Caldwell, and Mookie is the backup! Go figure! one reason why we are so bad against the run this season…maybe, just maybe??

there was a rumor back in week 1 that Mookie had an ankle injury
although he was never on any injury report.
I think Moala just won the job over him though.

It's like the O-Line all over again.
Other than Fili, our DTs are cast offs from other teams that we are starting. It’s like the FO is trying to say, we know more than the other teams in the NFL and can turn this guy into a starter. I think it’s arrogant and foolish. We overpaid for people like Hayden and Sanders and have no mid-level dollars to get better O-Line and interior D-Line players. Depth is key in this league and in most spots, we have none.

Every team has overpaid players..
because nobody is psychic. Every professional sports team has an overpaid player on their roster. Not every athlete plays for passion, some play for money and fame. No team has elite players at every position either, it just isn’t possible — unless the salary cap is gone for good.
The Colts have chosen key positions to sink their money into. It’s fair to say that maybe they chose wrong, sure. I’ve always believed the Colts don’t need to pay high dollars for any WR’s when anyone they plug in seems to do just fine; Manning is THAT good (Dallas Clark is the exception, he’s a necessary component). I love Reggie Wayne as much as the next guy, but is he really as good as his numbers say? Or is that Manning?
The best we have ever seen the Colts play defensively happened to be with a big DT in the middle, so it would be nice to see money spent there someday. We’d be talking about a really expensive D-line, though, with Mathis and Freeney eating up a lot of keeeeesh already.
I can hardly call making the playoffs every single year with a chance of running the table as ‘arrogant and foolish’. I think it’s rather smart.
Polian’s decisions to pay guys like Sanders and Hayden made sense at the time. Tell me with a straight face you wouldn’t have signed when they were hot commodities….. People vote for presidents and aren’t happy about it 2 years later — this shit doesn’t only happen in sports :)

YES!!
I was JUST telling a coworker that we don’t need GREAT WR’s because Peyton will make them a lot better.
I was not happy with the Hayden singing when it happened.
The point you make about WR can be partially applied to CB too. We used to play so much zone coverage that we didn’t need to spend on shutdown corners. We paid Kelvin like a shut down corner and assumed he could do it. He was fine as a Cover 2 corner, but now gets burnt in Man to Man coverage, which we run more with Coyer as DC.
Your statement about sinking money into key positions is correct. I just think it shouldn’t have been CB. I would have rather spent that money on O-Line to protect Peyton.

Fair enough.
I had a feeling Hayden was a guy capable of locking down opposing receivers and now I see I was wrong about that. Sucks.
I agree building an O-line around Manning instead of spending so much on WR’s would be especially scary. Manning already turns average receivers into Pro Bowlers and imagine if he had the type of time Tom Brady gets from his O-line…. wouldn’t matter who the WR’s are.
Nothing against guys like Wayne, Collie and others. They work their asses off and deserve a lot of credit for their hard work and dedication to the team.

I think your backs will combine for less than 110
Cassell will throw a pick and lose a fumble. Colts win 27-21

I think that they will rush for more than 110 in the first half.
I am not sure that we can stop Manning on defense, but they will run the ball.
The Chiefs are averaging 160 yards/game rushing. And the teams that we played have been good against the run. If you take out the games against the Chiefs they are all doing well against the run (CLE- 98 yrds/game, SF- 75 yrds/game, SD- 62 yrds/game).
The Colts give up 149.5 yards/game on the ground.
I think this will be a very tough victory for the Chiefs, but they will run the ball.
Colts are playing at home, and they love to show off to the fans and get their few seconds
in the spotlight. The game against the Giants, one after the other would preen for the camera and the fans when they made a good tackle or big play. Fine with me, I love to see them playing well, no matter what the reason. Really enjoy the victory dance, Robert! And the defense doing their collective jump when they’re running on “boil”.
