#Colts president Bill Polian, on his weekly radio show, said RB Mike Hart, WLB Clint Session and MLB Gary Brackett could play Sunday.
...
#Colts' Polian said RB Joseph Addai and S Bob Sanders will probably still need more time before returning to the lineup.

Phil B suggests that we shouldn't expect Addai or Sanders back this week. I hope you're not too surprised.

My complaint?

The way the team has managed injuries this year. Charlie Johnson and Saturday were forced into week one, I thought, so was Collie against the Pats, and Session was left out there too long in the second go-round with Houston. My worry about the above info is the same, that each one might not be ready. Of course, it won’t matter if we bomb out and don’t make the playoffs, so….

A Few Notes From The Polian Show

- He claims responsibility for not resigning Jake Scott. He cited money issues for not resigning him.
- He said he wouldn’t even think twice about cutting Lilja again. He cited injuries as the main concern at the end of the season.
- Commented that Brown is a speed back and said that last night Mike Hart would have been a better option if he was healthy. (given the way the Chargers played the run)
- Angerer is now in a backup role if Brackett and Session are back. Wheeler has won his old starting job back with his “improved” play.

Hmmm... if I recall, Polian had to choose between keeping Scott or Lilja

and he chose Lilja. Why? At that time he said both were equal but Lilja was younger. Money didn’t come up back then.

by SoCalHoosier on Nov 29, 2010 9:53 PM EST up reply actions

why do you think money wasn't an issue? I assume he had to choose because

he couldn’t give both market-level salaries.

Additionally

and this is off the top of my head, but I believe Polian and the Colts did make an offer to Scott but his agent turned it down to explore the market. The offer he got from the Titans was around the same, if not lower, than what the Colts offered. This explanation is pretty general and is without a link, but this is something I already explained back in 08’ and 09’. I could be off though so take it how you want.

i recall polian saying that as well, heard it on his radio show 5-6 weeks ago

when i him describe it, i read into it that the Colts kinda lowballed him and the agent didn’t give them a second chance. I could be way off base on that part though.

I meant it as having enough money for one but not both.

They could’ve kept Scott just as easily as they kept Lilja.

Polian really thinks we're dumb, huh?

INJURY REASONS? Seriously? How dumb does Polian think we are? Like Selador alluded to, the Colts keep way too many injury-prone guys as-is. On top of that…how the hell is Lilja injured? He may very well be a Pro Bowl guard for KC this year. How does that represent injury?

If Polian doesn’t watch it, he’s going to lead this fanbase into revolt. I’m sick and tired of him treating us all like morons because he can’t man up and admit a mistake and is too stubborn to do the right thing. He’s an arrogant ass and this is why nobody else in the league likes him. Saying he wouldn’t think twice about cutting Lilja due to injury concerns is about the boldest lie he’s ever told, and the fact that he thinks we’re too dumb to know any different really pisses me off.

Polian

“He’s an arrogant ass and this is why nobody else in the league likes him.”

Even among Colt nation, his friends and supporters dwindle by the year. I evolved from a Polian supporter to a critic. And I know I’m not alone.

Typical Polian. Arrogant as ever.

I’ve said for a long time that we won one superbowl and got to another,…in spite of Polian, not because of him. Manning has carried this team. The simple truth is that Manning has done more with less than any player in the league. If you don’t believe that, you’re not paying attention. The job of a team president should be to maximize the potential of the team. Polian’s inability to correct glaring perennial weaknesses (i.e. special teams that, for years now, give us the worst field position in the league, Swiss cheese run defense, awful running game, bad offensive line, etc.) have not enabled the Colts to make the most of the Peyton Manning years. It’s common knowledge around the league, each and every year, that you can run easily on the Colts. How embarrassing is that? They say it every year, because it’s true. When the hell are these recurring issues going to be fixed? When you have the greatest quarterback of all time for 13 years, you should have multiple championships. If you don’t, it’s mismanagement. It all starts at the top. If Polian was working in any other corporation, he would have been fired a long time ago.

Exactly! Another thing is his hiring of docile wimp coaches that only serve as his puppets.
This team should have more rings than New England or Pittsburgh combined during Manning’s tenure.Unfortunately Manning’s abilities are offset by Polians inabilities.
And while I’m at it nobody talks about it much anymore HIS decision to pull starters last year speaks volumes as to what he thinks of fans.

What?!

Wheeler is back? You have got to be kidding me. If not Angerer, Hagler needs to start at his old position.

Surprising

That’s surprising.

by Cole Farrington on Nov 29, 2010 9:36 PM EST reply actions

Not only surprising...

But crazy. What is he talking about ? Wheeler did NOTHING good last game? Sure he made like one good tackle, but there were several occasions when he was out of position. I can’t remember where but there was an article about it…

Please please please can we get an offensive line

by icedude on Nov 29, 2010 10:00 PM EST up reply actions

Agree on first glance...

I’ll have to watch again, but Wheeler was not good. In fact, I tweeted in-game a few times about how his play was reminding us why he was riding the pine.

any news on Collie… I think Peyton needs him as a hot read for when our line gets beat.

Start inserting the injuried players back in where possible.

1-2 more losses and the Colts won’t have anything left to play for.

Injured players grow a pair

The injured guys looked like they enjoyed being on the sidelines more than playing. They need to grow a pair and play. Session at lest should have played. Hart should have as well. Wheeler winning his job back? really? hagler OWNS both wheeler and angerer. Also why is it we always get scrubs? I mean seriously? We gna pick up some fa’s, at least get some that amount to a spill of beans FFS!!! Lastly it should be mandated that all NFL referees get wavefront lasik before being allowed to ref a game again, especially rivalry games, SEAHAWK games, and Super Bowls the Steelers are involved in.

lol

i do agree those guys on the sidelines looked mighty cozy i think they’ve much given up but wow for a rivalry game that was the most non-flagged game ever i think the colts could’ve gotten away with some penalties seeing as the ref were pretty much asleep

Rly??? You want a player out there, a RB who can't run because he has an injured ankle? What

planet are you from? You sound exactly like one of the trolls we’ve been stuck with all year! Borrow some balls yourself and get a brain while you’re at it. Delusional,

Brokenbach

Guy is an epic fail, he proved it like the last 3 games in a row, especially missing that block completely on the screen in the pats game. Pollak on a bad day could beat onhisbach!!!

He is not a guard. I would like to see him playing RT for a few games. What is the downside?

I know this team doesn’t have Steve Hutchinson on the bench but this Oline is really need a change, nothing to lose.

Garay, the DT from SD is a bona fide monster. Link is a rookie. Gotta grow with him

since he’s our most promising prospect, unless McClendon develops.

Looks like everyone is jumping off the bridge...

This team was in the Super Bowl last year….and there have been a ton of injuries this year. Polian had this team in the Super Bowl for christ sakes!! First time in 7 years the team isn’t gonna win 12 games…people need to relax.

That being said…Sanders should be gone after this season. So should Addai (same reason…dude is always hurt). Let Saturday go as well…as much as I like him (my favorite Colt) he is old and not very good anymore. I don’t think Brackett is as good as everyone makes out either. Angerer is playing well. Time to flush out the dead weight and get some new guys. Every time I watch Maurice Jones-Drew I throw up in my mouth because he never misses a game and we coulda shoulda had him. But hindsight is 20-20.

I sound like I wanna jump off the bridge too!

by TRDean on Nov 30, 2010 6:29 AM EST reply actions

I agree

Neither Addai nor Sanders have really justified what they are being paid. Addai’s biggest asset is he is a very good blocker, but honestly I think Brown, Hart and possibly even James are better at actual running.

Sanders hasn’t played essentially since he got a big contract. Unless he comes back and is a HUGE part and gets us to the superbowl, I don’t see how they could keep him.

I’ll give Brackett a pass, he is a good linebacker and he is our defensive captain and leader.

Saturday is who Manning wants. That alone is justification for having him there.

An expert is someone who knows more and more about less and less until they know everything about nothing...

I completely disagree about Addai.

No, he’s not a superstar running back and he can’t carry a team (obviously) like Peterson, MJD, Frank Gore, and so on, but the fact is that he can get the job done. Addai is a solid runner who I am very glad is on our team. Once he gets healthy again this team will be greatly improved.

My feeling is Addai being out is one of the main reasons the Colts have lost the last two games.

What do they always say—the run sets up the pass. Without that consistent (and Brown isn’t consistent) run that the team gets from Addai, then the long pass is not gonna happen. Addai is the backbone of this team. They need him.

by coltsfoot85 on Nov 30, 2010 12:02 PM EST reply actions

If Addai had Lilja and Scott still...

People would realize how good he actually is. He’s the best pass blocker in the NFL, and one of the most underrated in the nfl. I mean look how good he did with our scrub oline until he got hurt?!!!
