Matt Szczur is a WR/RB and even a bit of a wildcat QB (though, who isn't these days?) for 'Nova. Yes, Villanova is an FCS team playing lower-caliber talent but Szczur is tearing it up. Last week he caught, tossed and ran for a couple TDs -- in the first half.
It was quite a sight and he seems like one of those (brace for the cringe-inducing cliche) "football players." I'd love to see him don a horseshoe next season.
While I'm at it, I would love to snag Rodney Hudson from FSU. I'm not an o-line guru but each Seminoles game I watch the commentators talk about him being the best zone-blocker around. I liked watching him get up-field and block linebackers, too.
I imagine Szczur (if he declares) being no higher than a mid-round pick but, with the sudden influx of holes, I have a hard time believing we would spend a mid-round pick on a "luxury pick" like Szczur.
As I see it, offensive line is the greatest need heading into the off-season. The secondary has holes to fill, linebacker depth wouldn't hurt. It wouldn't be a Colts draft without looking for a solid DT.
Polian philosophy and the allocation of salaries strap the team from making any splashes in free agency. Another draft letdown could set the team back, this could be a big draft. Far, far in advance (not to mention an inappropriate time with the biggest game of the season looming) who are some of your most-desired prospects for our beloved Colts?
