Indy Star Reporting Colts Have Brought Back Dominic Rhodes
From Phil Wilson:
#Colts would not confirm they have signed RB Dominic Rhodes, but I'm hearing they have.
Dom Rhodes has always been one of my all-time favorite Colts players. Great locker-room guy, and a tough running back.
However, having him back in the fold likely means that we shouldn't expect to see Joseph Addai or Mike Hart back anytime soon.
[UPDATE]: From Phil Wilson:
Rhodes' signing means the #Colts will likely be without Joseph Addai and Mike Hart for Thursday at Tennessee.

That might not be a bad idea. Garcon carried for 11 yds on one run in the Cowboys game.
There’s a lot of shuffling going on. Peyton could probably play TE, and Diem could be the new DT.
Maybe it is just replacing Javarris.
Let’s hope. Its probably one of them are gonna be IRd.
BTW, I didn’t realize, but is Hart hurt again? I didn’t see the entire game, was travelling, so I might have missed it.
EVH+DLR=BFFs........ God I Hope So!!
maybe, but it was a reinjury to his ankle

Well,
Seeing that Brown, Hart and Addai are hurt right now, the Colts can’t go into the Titans game with 1 healthy RB.

Edge
Did Edge turn them down?
Dom will be 32 in a few weeks. He hasn’t played a game in almost two full years.
He should be fresh, at least.
Dom's been playing
Just in the UFL. For the Florida Tuskers. IIRC he was the leading rusher of that league this season.

In all honesty...
I’m sure the Colts would have liked to bring back Rhodes ahead of J. James and Bell, but NFL teams have to pay the UFL a transfer fee AND then negotiate a contract with the player. It’s proved to be cost-prohibitive for a lot of NFL teams. I might spot the Colts J. James because he’s young and had a promising preseason, so maybe they really wanted him ahead of Rhodes (as an emergency option I doubt it, but in a long-term maybe-he’s-an-RB3 role it’s more likely) but I doubt they honestly sat down and decided they’d rather have Bell over Rhodes.
Anyway, Rhodes can catch and pick up a blitz. Who cares if he can run? The Colts bailed on that a long time ago.

agreed
and he always played better for the Colts than anyone else and he could have been Superbowl co- MVP

Comfort
It always helps to bring in a guy who understands where to be in the offense and comfortable with Manning
He is back
It is now confirm. Rhodes is back. Well that is not good news for Addai or Hart. Let s hope he still have some football in him and will be better than Brown. We do not have any more joker! The playoffs are starting Thursday for us!

Not really a panic move. You bring in players you think will make you a better team. No problem with the signing.
exactly
and with the bad luck the Colts are having with injuries he could be the # 1 or 2 back in a few games hope not but this is a bad luck year for the Colts

Once again
He knows the offense but was he the best available? The Colts are killing me with these retreads. For the life of me I can’t understand why you wouldn’t sign the best player available and get them up to speed rather than getting an avg. player. Knowing the offense really only applies for a couple of weeks after that a newbie should be getting fairly acclimated….I still hope the Colts don’t make the playoffs so they get a high draft pick!!!!!
He was, by far, the BPA
Out of curiosity, who exactly do you think, that was available, was better?

uh, the game is day after tomorrow. Who is going to get up to speed in 48 hours but Dom?

Rhodes can still play
and he always played better for the Colts tahn anyone else , he cannot hurt at this point!!!!
Reeks of desperation.
I know he knows the system, I know he’s a fan favorite, and I know how crucial he was to the SB run, but I’m not sure what it accomplishes by bringing him back other than to have a warm body. He was a decent blocker, though.
Also, DEAR GOD PLEASE DONT LET ADDAI BE IR’D!

I totally agree.
Good to have him back, but it’s mostly because of desperation.

I really, REALLY miss Bob Sanders. One of my favorite players (in any sport) of all time.
Dead BBS
Our running game was so much better this past week. You were right now that we have Mike Hart and Brody Eldridge back we are so much better………………………………….NOT So much for Donald Brown being your scape goat. Our O-line is horrible and no matter who we have at running back our running game will never be around league average.
