Off Topic: NCAA Basketball tournament soon to have 96?
Apparently, there is a very real chance that as soon as next year, March Madness will be even madder with 96 teams instead of the current 64. (Or 65 I suppose, useless play in game)
I know personally, I don't give a crap about college basketball until the tournament. College hockey is the only college sport I actually follow and I can't get in to college basketball's regular season mainly because it somewhat seems to defeat the purpose. (And I think everyone on this site has already heard my many "BCS Sucks" arguments for football, so no need to explain further on that one)
I think adding more teams further weakens the point of their regular season, and it somewhat weakens the prestige of the tournament as a whole. Sure, we love seeing the "Cinderella" 10 seed get to the Final 4, but do we need to really see those #24 seeds take on those #1 seeds? It's about is pointless as those "Bob's Hardware" type bowl games putting the 5th best Sun Belt team against the 9th best Big East team. Just a waste of time.
It just seems like a pointless money grab. But then again, that's what the NCAA is all about. They have a good thing, I'd hope they don't ruin it. But then again, even as annoying as 96 teams would be, at least there would still BE a real champion.
Thoughts? I know we have a number of college basketball fans on this site, so I was wondering the reaction here.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors.

Dude.
You just answered your own question.
If things are working fine we have to change them! Its the way Humans work!
If its ain’t broke, make as much money as you can off of it until it is.
(my Dad about to place a bet)"Hey Karim who do you like in the Colts Game?" "I dont know dad, Haydens out, so is Gonzalez, Bracket, Sanders, Jackson, and maybe Freeney" Dad-"Is Manning playing?" Me-"Yeah".. "Lets go with Indy"

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Indianapolis Colts, taking focus away from my DBacks every Sunday.
No
This would be bad. Although this would allow for more midmajors (like the college I go to) to make it in, I don’t want that. The current field is the perfect size.
No it won't
They won’t put in more mid-majors. It will just end up being all major programs getting in.
Sak vide pa kanpe
don't give into crazy German red balloon songs
or the beers on the wall.
Oh wait, that’s 99. Can’t even pick a number there are songs about.
actually would be terrible.....
because March Madness would extend to like April-May and that many teams would just ruin everything. The players would be tired, and academically they would need to focus on their studies. The field that have now is enough, adding about 30 more teams would be horrible
eff you we winning anyway

Hell no
My Zona Wildcats have made it 25 consecutive years. If they can, so can any
other team. Stupid idea.

Sigh
Your Zona Wildcats beat up my Cal Bears the other day :-(
Congrats, though… the Pac-10 is weird this year!
How can you not love a team that does this?
I was at that game…the crowd was nuts. And no kidding about the Pac-10. Anyone — well, probably not Oregon State or shitty ASJC (Arizona State Junior College!) — could win the tournament. Should be crazy in March.

So...
We can’t get a plus-one system in college football, but they want to have 96 teams in the basketball tournament. Makes perfect sense.
