I don't doubt Peyton's ability to get a TD.

I doubt the D’s ability to stop the Saints should they win the OT toss.

Indy's been down worse before

And still won. Granted, it wasn’t against such an explosive offense on the other side to match his output, but he’s done it before. Indy just has to move the ball.

Congrats on making it to the Super Bowl again.

Some teams never make it, and it was your second time in 4 years. You had a great season, so you have nothing to be embarred about. No team can be the best team every season, and even Joe Montanna, the greatest QB to ever don a helmet and pads in an NFL playoff game, had seasons that didn’t end with Vince Lombardi trophies in his hands. Enjoy the success your team did have this season, and look forward to the coming season. In the mean time, don’t crap on our parade. We earned our SB just like you did in 06. If you don’t want to hear chants of Who Dat, put on some pads and make the plays that the Colts couldn’t. Your team played hard in a losing effort, but the played hard dammit. Don’t put them down for losing to the Super Bowl Champions, they made it further than 30 other teams this season, so they deserve your respect and loyalty.

As for the Who Dats, they’re in the same shoes you were in back in 06. Respect them same way you wanted to be respected when your team won.

If you drink O'Douls, you don't drink. But if you drink 20 O'Douls in a half hour, then you're a [bleep]ing non-alcoholic. Non-alcoholism is a problem too. And there are symptoms, like when you fall down, does it always hurt?

Better to get to the Super Bowl and lose a hard fought game to a great team than to go one-and-done or not make the postseason at all.

Absolutely agree

but it hurts. I know you were just as confident as me in our team today. I don’t think we or many other people here expected to see what we just saw.

by NYKings on Feb 7, 2010 9:56 PM EST up reply actions

Freeney was out or a non-factor in the 2nd half,

and Payton basically out-coached Caldwell. The Saints are a great team. It’s as simple as that.

It’s a little sad knowing that the Colts would have won if the Favres won 2 weeks ago.

Reggie Bush has done so little in the NFL. He is barely deserving of a second round pick.

Anyone who has a problem with Joseph should stop watching Colts football. It's unfair to expect a back to replace Edge, and Addai has been excellent in all areas when he is healthy.

Good night all.

by Ayrshire on Feb 7, 2010 9:55 PM EST reply actions

Here's a thought

Coming from behind is hard to do. And there are only so many times that a team can come back in the 4th quarter and beat someone. And the Colts won 7 games this year like that, more or less because of Peyton Manning. So in a way no one should call him choker because he has been there for his team any chance he could and sometimes shit happens and it just so happens that he was overdue for one and it happened during the superbowl. But anyway Congrats saints, if you were playing anyone but the Colts I would have wanted you to win.

Good players, folks coming back from being injured. and one pissed off Peyton Manning. You can bet he’s not going to take this loss lightly, and he’ll drive the team hard next year. Not a good Super Bowl, but this franchise is still well off. Good players, good coach, good owner.

Congrats to the saints

I mean, the Colts offense, played o.k. Manning was good. Addai was great and the O-line played nice. But, Garcon didnt step up. Reggie didn’t.
I’m certainly disappointed with Reggie, but hell, that’s the way it is.

The D played HORRIBLE. That D that we had been praising failed. Jennings was a target again. The LB’s were abused and there was no pressure in the front.
About Jennings, he’s the first one to come to mind but honestly all the DBs played like crap.

That 10-0 lead did more damage to the Colts. They looked overconfident and after the onside kick, the D just played heads down, no energy, no nothing.

At the end, that Addai run was dumb, and Reggie missed. Game over.
Heartbreaking indeed, but the Saints deserved it.

It was a nice ride.

Part of the blame has to go to bad tackling again.

How many times in the last 3 quarters did the first and second guy miss or let slip through an arm tackle. Get your heads up and in front of the ball carrier, dammit.

That Saints celebrated a bit too much during the game. Jumping around like they knew they deserved it.

Drew Brees with Son...

Shannon Sharpe said “that’s the most precious moment for a father and his son”. Really? That’s it? Oh man, I need to off my butt, join the NFL, and win the SuperBowl – and then hoist my 18 year old (by then) daughter in my arms. Man am I ashamed of myself.

by buymymonkey on Feb 7, 2010 10:05 PM EST reply actions

Ok so

I am upset, but the Saints are a damn good football team and they showed it. This is nothing to be pissed about because we can only get better from here, which IMO should scare the shit out of the NFL

So, apparently "Adult Language" isn't allowed in sig lines, so I suppose my new sig will be clean and "G" rated so I can openly discuss football with other blogs. Shame on me for not understanding!

colts let up before the end of the half

I concider the colts “slowing down” right before the half and giving the ball back before the half the “turning point”. Forget the onsides kick after the half (which I’ve only seen by a 12 year on madden, even though it was a good call it was still dirty) forget the int. Colts let up in the Superbowl. Bad move. Still love you.

by Colts Cultist on Feb 7, 2010 10:09 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Ya -!

I did notice they slowed down – not as aggressive. Hmmmm…

Still do like the Colts, yep. They don’t celebrate gratuitiously like the Saints did every down.

Yup. We got this. Manning is still top-notch.

Our receivers are young and awesome. Defense is getting better.

Here in Mexico

me, my mom and dad, my brother and my dogs were probably the only Indy fans in the whole state. Most people were with the Saints even thought they only watch one game in the entire year, and that is the Super Bowl. We all feel bad, but we can recognize that the Saints played the game of their lives.
Well, everyone here will root for the Colts no matter what. We know more rings will come when the time is right.

All I have to say as a Jets fan is :

Manning is NO Choker at all. The Defender just made a brilliant INT for a TD. That’s all it was. I respect Manning and what he means to the game. I hope Mark Sanchez can become even REMOTELY like Peyton as he matures.

But all that said, after the Colts players talked garbage to the Jets AFTER the Fact(Game, that is) and taunted them, I’m afraid that Karma came back and bit them in the butt. And I can’t exactly shed tears for this Team after that.

Also, while some here will say that the “Perfect Season” won’t matter, just the Superbowl, Here’s something to consider :

The rationale for resting the Colts players and not going full-out to win the final two games was to have them Ready and Healthy to win the SuperBowl. Now that THAT plan went up in smoke, There is no Perfect Season, No SuperBowl, No Nothing. Just an empty feeling as if everything that occured(having 14-2 record, getting to the Superbowl) never happened. No one remembers the Runner-up in the SuperBowl and that’s a sad but true fact.

Oh well…That’s okay. Indy is STILL the Team to beat in the AFC so long as Peyton Manning lives and Breathes. I look forward to my Jets getting another crack at Defeating The Master next year. Enjoy your offseason, Colts fans! Especially to those Classy ones. :)

The Un-classy and Jerk ones? I can tell you all what to do with yourselves but I’d rather not get banned…..Take Care.

You're right. It's EXECUTION that wins games.

The Saints executed a bit better than the Colts did. If you want to look at it from that angle, I suppose.

But Reggie Wayne had a couple of uncharacteristic drops during crucial times. I swear I was watching Braylon Edwards replays for a sec there. Reggie almost NEVER drops passes. I was stunned that he did.

And Karma is a word I like to use ’cause of the whole “Resting players for Playoffs” situation during the Regular season and all the garbage that followed..

A few things I Though about the game

1. Why attempt a 51 yard FG if we dont have the kicker to make it, but have one of the best QB’s to go for it. If you went for it on 4th and 2, why not take the chance again, same odds as making a 51 FG with our kickers.
2. After the 1st quarter, we couldnt get any pressure on the QB, and they threw on us with ease.
3. Tim Jennings was a big target, we might been better off with a LB on a receiver. At least they arent fast enough to get 5 yards behind the receiver to give them a big cushion.
4. Not to complain, but there were a few penalties the Colts didnt get that went uncalled. Especially when they had one of our players on the ground holding him after the play right in front of a ref. But no call.
5. What happened to the run game in the second half? We were running all over them. Why did we stop? Even the last drive we didnt run. Eventually they play the pass only and we ended up giving a pick 6.

Overall we did good, but things we can improve on. Great Season Colts. Heres to drafting an CB and good tackle in the Draft!

That field goal attempt

was like a bad joke. I would have rather punted, though the chances of that doing much were small they were still larger than the odds of making that kick

I think

having one already helps the pain. But next year Manning will be Manning, we will draft O line so we might actually have a run game and the D will be stacked. Hard to see anything bad in this team. The NFL better watch out cause the Colts will be stronger next year, and that even scares the shit outta me
