Titles shuffled among the Colts offensive staff

Via Indy Football Report, (tip to Cass) Tom Moore will be back with the Colts, but not as offensive coordinator. Moore will hold the title of Senior Offensive Assistant, while Clyde Christensen becomes Offensive Coordinator. Ron Turner, whose addition prompted speculation from some that Moore was retiring will take Christensen's former position of WR coach.

As expected former Assistant O-line Coach Pete Metzelaars was promoted to Offensive Line Coach the position vacated by Howard Mudd's retirement. Ex-Kansas State head coach Ron Prince takes over as the assistant line coach. Bob Cooter was promoted from staff assistant to offensive assistant

To recap,

Tom Moore- Senior Offensive Assistant

Clyde Christensen- Offensive Coordinator

Ron Turner- Wide Receivers Coach

Pete Metzelaars- O-Line Coach

Ron Prince- Assistant OL Coach

Bob Cooter- Offensive Assistant.

Tom Moore remaining with the team is obviously fantastic (though expected) news, though we may see more of the offense being taken over by Christensen who already built the Colts 3rd down offense, while Moore moves to more of a elder statesman role.

I love our 3rd down offense,

so I have no problem with Christensen doing any playcalling.

Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: Butler is going to go to the sweet 16. Whatever happens after that is anyone's guess.

Except ...

on 3rd and 1 in the Super Bowl and handing off to Mike Hart, and 3rd and 2 in the wild card against the Chargers and getting a sack. ;-(

Oh wow.

The Colts aren’t perfect on 3rd down? Shocker.

you have to admit

those were pretty shitty situations to not convert

How can you not love a team that does this?

by LovinBlue on Mar 20, 2010 8:39 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah,

but the Colts have the best 3rd down conversion rate in the league consistently (around 50%). Plus, you have to realize that it is a coin-flip. There will always be situations where you weren’t able to execute. No reason to hate our 3rd down offense.

More like asking suggestions

IN THE HEADSET: “I think a blue-32, or maybe a slant-orange-17 would be good here, how about you, Peyt? Okay, sure, that works too… whatever.”

I hate Joe Namath. That's how long I've been a Colts fan.

I bet finding coaches for Peyton Manning is hard!

You want a good coach that will be fine with Peyton just making up his own calls at the line of scrimmage.

Another example of how classy this organization is,

some teams would have just told Tom Moore to head off to pasture. I wonder if Peyton might have had something to do with that? But Clyde will do just fine.

Interesting

Wonder how the interaction will work between Christensen and Moore with Christensen officially taking over.

How can you not love a team that does this?

by LovinBlue on Mar 20, 2010 12:47 AM EDT reply actions

I doubt anything will change,

mostly because they’ve already been working together for so long.

In reality, isn't this what it was last year?

Moore’s title has not changed, it’s just that Clyde, who was “Acting OC” or some such made up title, is now official.

And what, may I ask, is a Bob Cooter? Does he roam the sidelines in a fishin’ vest and hip waders?

I hate Joe Namath. That's how long I've been a Colts fan.

It's pretty much the same thing,

as that is an awesome name.

Nothing to see here people

Move along, move along.

As long as we have Peyton (and no surprise gay onside kicks are made) we will always have a chance to win.

Bios?

Does anyone know where there is a Bio for Bob Cooter? Is this the same Jim Bob Cooter that used to “play” for the Vols?

Much fun

An odd hire if ever there was one for this org. What, was Cincy full of guys with electronic ankle bracelets—they had too many and their signals were crossing in the locker room, so they shipped one off to us? Weird.

Just noticed the picture.

That’s worthy of a caption contest.

When i asked you not to rub my belly for luck, I assumed you’d know I meant my head too.

LOL

That’d get a rec from me. Moore does look a little annoyed, doesn’t he. So cute!
