Draft another Wide Receiver?
I have noticed a lot of conversation around the Colts making some moves within the free agency market towards aquiring another wide out.
I have been thinking about our options for another wide out in this year's draft. There are some great receivers in this draft, including: Bryant, Tate, Williams from SC and Thomas from GT. I don't think the Colts would use a 1st round pick on a receiver they think they can get in the 2nd or 3rd round. I would be curious if they Colts are interested in Jordan Shipley, Gilyard or Benn from Illinois. There is also Riley Cooper from Florida or LeFall from LSU who could be an interesting later round draft pick for the Colts.
Honestly, I cannot see the Colts going through this year's draft without drafting another receiver. Especially with AG coming off that knee injury from last season.

No Need
I think a TE is more need than a WR. I think that is the position they will target in the draft
I could see a WR who is a great returner in the 4th round or later
like Jacoby Ford (unlikely to fall), or Andre Roberts (should be around).
Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.
This!
Really like what I’m reading and seeing with Roberts. Looks like a Colt to me.
Agreed
The Colts DESPERATELY need a good returner.

I really agree with colt29
We definitely might target a TE. Maybe not a Gresham, but maybe that big guy from Arizona.
I also wish I had time and motivation to blog at Speed Blue Nation
A blocking TE or a specialist returner
Otherwise, I can’t see any way we’re drafting a receiver. We only added Baskett to cover for Gonzo last season, and with him back, we’re going to have enough trouble getting all our receivers on the field. Unless there’s spectacular value at the bottom of the draft, or someone truly special falls to the end of the first, I can’t see it.
Not much need for a WR, but there is for a good returner
I don’t see the Colts going for a WR early. Too many teams go for the big names early in the first round. So when the Colts get the 31st pick it won’t make sense to use a first round pick on one. At the earliest I’d see Polian picking up one in the 3rd or 4th round. The Colts will have more good receivers to work with than ever, especially with Gonzalez coming back. I could see them adding another though as a backup in case one gets injured and to have a good receiver developing and waitin in the wings so-to-speak. I think the first Round or two Polian will focus on beefing up the offensive line to help improve the run game and to give Manning more time. That’s not a bad move, but I think the Colts secondary needs some focus. The secondary is what lost the Super Bowl for the Colts. They need secondary players that can play man-to-man coverage as well as zone. In the first quartert the Colts were playing man to man and the receivers couldn’t get open for Brees to throw to. Then they switched to zone coverage. They quickly tackled the guys but they left them open enough to get the reception for 8-10 yards or more. The Colts tend to focus too much on offense and they need a little more defense to create a balanced team. Another good pass rusher would be good to get too, in case Freeney or Mathis get injured. I’d love to see the Colts get rid of TJ Rushing and get a new returner. Rushing sucks as a returner. I liked Chad Simpson much better as a returner. And he was a descent running back too. I definitely want to see them keep Antoine Bethea, he earned a spot after his performance this year. But I think they wanted to avoid the franchise tag on him to prepare for however outrageous of a price they might have to pay to keep Peyton, which Peyton is worth almost any price he asks for. Polian may be right that they need to beef up the OL. They do a great job of protecting Peyton, but they do lack size and you need that size to open holes for the RB’s. And that is probably a good reason why the Colts running game wasn’t so hot in 2009. But I still think the defense needs to be the primary concern. It’s received too little attention.

If we draft a WR it's for:
Special teams. I see us looking at TE more than at WR. The depth behind Dallas could be a question. Also, if we draft a WR I think it’s probably to be a KR/PR. An area we need addressed.
Only draft receiver
fourth round or later, unless it’s a dynamic return man, and that could still be taken in fourth or later.
I feel like if we go for return man, we will go with Arenas in the third round or later, trindon holliday in the late rounds or free agency (my fingers are crossed for this one, would be a huge steal), or Golden Tate in the first or second. Tate is my dream pick here, but that is because I am a ND fan and he and Michael Floyd were the two sources of ND pride that kept me going through the dark days of Charlie Weis (thought Clausen was great, but didn’t like his smug SoCal primadonna attitude). Yet, we should not pick a receiver that early, and as good as he is and will be in the league, I would prefer us go o-line. But that looks like it may not be the case any more, so this would please me tremendously, but also confuse me from a managerial viewpoint.

Gonzo....
Was NOT healthy during the Super Bowl. I am worried about his 2010-2011 season. I wish I had more confidence in his recovery. Everything I have read says most WRs need 2 years to fully recover from his type of injury. I hope I am wrong and everyone let’s me know about it after his 11 catch, 2 TD Colts Super Bowl victory next February:)
Most receivers don't sleep in hyperbaric chambers
Is he married? Don’t you get nosebleeds in those things?
Even though Gonzo wasn't healthy
Receivers were not a major concern. I don’t see your point.

4 wide
Colts will be using a spread attack with 4 WR on the field this year so that might mean no need to draft a TE
