With the 11th Pick in the 2010 Stampede Blue Community Mock Draft, the Denver Broncos select...

Derrick Morgan, DE - Georgia Tech

Pick made by JPBarnett:

Defensive End is a huge priority in this off-season for the Broncos. Denver got just 68 tackles and only 1 sack from three Defensive Ends. Denver's 3-4 scheme and the amazing season by Elvis Dumervil tried to cover it up, but maybe we should ask the defending AFC Champs about the importance of a pass rush from your front line?

How will he impact the 2010 Broncos?

Morgan has a chance to come in and make a difference for a mediocre Denver defense. Mel Kiper says, "It's not just about a pass-rush with Morgan; he's also great against the run." Morgan played the 4-3 for the Yellow Jackets, but his skill set should transfer well into the 3-4, where I project him starting across from free agent pickup Jarvis Green from the Patriots.

If Morgan is taken #11 by the Broncos, it would be the 2nd year in a row a DE is taken in the first round by the Broncos (Robert Ayers), and the third in 4 years (Jarvis Moss).  He will also be the first DE taken in the first round from Georgia Tech since 1992 (Marco Coleman).

Bad pick

Morgan doesn’t fit into the 3-4.

It can happen

Derrick Morgan is 4-3 only, but so was Robert Ayers.
