Joe Haden, CB - Florida

With 2 first round picks, San Fran has the luxury to go BPA with this pick. It just so happens, that Haden also fits a need. Haden was not supposed to fall this far but a slower 40 than expected at the Combine pushed him out of the Top 10. San Francisco just signed Karl Paymah to add to Nate Clements, Tarrell Brown, Shawntae Spencer, and Keith Smith. Clements hasn't exactly earned all that money he signed for, and Haden should be able to compete with each of these guys for immediate playing time. At the least, Haden will play significantly at the Nickel. He's not the fastest guy, but is very physical at pressing the WR.

His combine pushed him down this far, but Haden's game tape is why Singletary grabs him up. Haden stepped on to the field as a true freshman on a very talented Gator team and started all but one game. He's the best Corner in the draft, best player available, and he'll be off the board at pick #13.

If Haden is taken #13 by the 49ers, it would be the 1st DB taken in the first round since 2002, when Mike Rumph was taken #27 overall.  He will also be the first CB taken in the first round from Florida since 2002 (Lito Sheppard).  He'll also be the 5th Florida player taken in the first round over the past 4 years.
