With the 25th Pick in the 2010 Stampede Blue Community Mock Draft, the Baltimore Ravens select...

Jermaine Gresham, TE - Oklahoma

Pick made by SupermanWearsBobSander'sPJs:

The Ravens were anemic at WR coming out of the season. Since then, they resigned [WR Derrick] Mason and traded a third and fourth round pick for Anquan Boldin (Jerry Jones is still ticked off) and a fifth round pick! They need help on the defensive line - some of which will come with the signing of Corey Redding. And they need help at CB. However, Brian Price, Carlos Dunlap, Devin McCourty seem to be a reach here.

This pick is pretty much BPA. It also happens to give the Ravens the dynamite TE they need. This one pick will really round out their offense and give [QB Joe] Flacco another weapon to rely on and that should allow Flacco to continue to grow. He has good height and decent strength which should increase. He will probably be able to add some weight without slowing or hindering his ability. The one major concern is that he is coming off of an injury.

How will he impact the 2010 Ravens?

Gresham should be able to start immediately and he has a good TE to learn from [Todd Heap].  Maybe not as fast at [Dallas] Clark or [Antonio] Gates, he can run people over and will be a great target for Flacco in the middle and can add some edge blocking for [RB Ray] Rice. Flacco had a couple of BAD games last year - a sure target in the middle is just what the coaches ordered!

Again, this is a bit of a luxury pick for Baltimore, but it will increase the efficiency of their offense and cause Safeties to play the TE instead of just dropping back. He could have an amazing rookie year.

If Gresham is taken #25 by the Ravens, he would be the 1st TE taken in the first round by the Ravens since 2001, when they selected Todd Heap #31 overall.  He would also be the first TE taken in the 1st round from Oklahoma since 1988, when Keith Jackson was taken #13 overall by the Eagles.

How do you feel about pick #25?
Correct pick. Ravens in good position to take BPA.

OK Pick, but could have gotten more value elsewhere.

OK Pick, but other positions could have higher need.

Wrong Pick. Others positions definitely needed first.

I agree with the pick

I disagree with the notion that this was a BPA pick.

Same here.

They could use a TE. This is very much need too.

Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: Butler University is (finally) in the Final Four for the first time in school history. While I knew that they could do it, I am still stunned. Only need 2 more wins to finish the job! Go Butler!

Brown, Weatherspoon, Iupati, Williams, and Gresham won’t be available at the Colts pick. This should be interesting. I smell a corner coming.

Some other team might pick the corner we want.

No, no.

You’re not using the Polian tactic of throwing people off the Colts trail. “Looks like the Colts are taking a punter with the first.” There.

McCourtney, perhaps?

Could also be Price.

I love the pick,

but I disagree with you saying that Price would be a reach there. From what I’ve seen, he could go earlier.
