Today we find out what two teams will join Butler University and West Virginia in the Final Four in Indy. The Butler Bulldogs will make their first Final Four appearance in school history after a gutsy performance against #2 Kansas State, while the Mountaineers are back after a 50-year old absence after proving why John Calipari can't coach himself out of a box with a convincing win over #1 seed Kentucky and it's one-and-doners. The games today are:
#6 Tennessee vs. #5 Michigan State- 1:20pm CST
#3 Baylor vs. #1 Duke- 4:05pm CST

Izzo is one half away from his 6th Final Four in the past 12 seasons. He’s also lost in the Regional final once as well.
Stevens has a little bit more work to do to be able to “coach circles” around Izzo.

Izzo is a great coach. He may outcoach Stevens in the Final Four, but MSU hasn’t played a team as good as Butler in this whole tournament. Not even close really.

Maryland is just as good
as Butler. They were seeded higher, and Pomeroy has UM at 11, Butler at 12.
And as MSU has shown year after year, it doesn’t matter who they are playing. They are ridiculously tough to knock out of this tournament.

I have no idea how Maryland was 11 in Pomeroy. They looked mediocre every game I saw them play.

How they played in the tournament
has no bearing on where their seed should have been. They were around 20 in several rankings, so the 5 seed is justified. There’s no conspiracy going on, even if you think it exists. They can only base it on who they played at the start of the tournament, and that’s where Butler fell in.
It’s all about matchups in the tourney. Look how well SMC played against Villanova, a relatively small team. Then look how they played against Baylor, a very big team.
When IU went to the final game in ‘02, as a 5 seed, that didn’t mean they were a top 5 team that year. They just matched up well against the teams they played.

I would have a tough choice between watching these games and watching my buddies rec league playoff game

would be that Tennessee comes in, dominates on the inside on offense and plays shut-down defense (like they did decently against Turner Ohio St.). I came in looking to be impressed by one of these teams.

I didn't believe it last August, but it turns out that love survives.
Who cares if he's a Cubs fan? This is a football forum! He is a PACKER fan as well. So, from now until March, I’m sure he’ll dedicate a lot of his time here. In late March, then we can be enemies during the baseball season. Besides, the Cubs have perhaps the most loyal baseball fanbase in the country. You have to respect that.

I have been in no man’s land for baseball. It’s one of the greatest sports ever. My dad is a Cubs fan but I’ve always hated them. My mom is a Reds fan and I’ve always been partial towards them. The reason why I am a Reds fan is because way back when BJ Upton was just breaking into the majors I became a huge fan of how he played. I also like Carl Crawford, Maddon, and especially David Price. The thing that made them my favorite team is just how much I love the Tampa Bay area.

East Lansing is 4 hours away from Lucas Oil Stadium
If you are getting to Michiana in 2 hours, you are doing work. I don’t think I’ve been able to do that going up to Notre Dame before.

My buddies team got demolished
the guys they were facing are crazy into rec league. They had just gotten back from winning a regional tournament when they played my friends team. They ran a 2-3 zone and were constantly communicating. They had this little guy who hit 3-4 well contested 3s. Their big man throws shot for the track team so was immovable down low.

I was going to stay home and watch a movie
but my roommate on the team forgot his wallet (which had his University ID, required to be allowed to play). I would say they’d have lost anyway, but apparently the kid that was raining 3s usually isn’t a good shot, according to my friend who plays at the fieldhouse a ton. Now I blame myself for his hot streak.
