With the 34th Pick in the 2010 Stampede Blue Community Mock Draft, the Detroit Lions select...

Jahvid Best, RB - California

Pick made by coltsfan723:

The Lions have secondary issues they need to address, but there is some CB depth in this years draft so I'm gonna go with a running back here. Kevin Smith had a serious ACL tear and may not be available to start the season. Best is an explosive RB. He looked good in the Combine drills and I believe he was the fastest back there. The Lions need a game beaker at RB that can capitalize on the pressures of Calvin Johnson and Nate Burleson and take pressure off Matthew Stafford.

How will he impact the 2010 Lions?

Best has great vision, instincts, patience, and cutback ability when running it downhill, but time will tell if he can be effective running it between the tackles, but I think Best could be used right away. The Lions could also play around with him and put him in the slot, I formation, 3rd down back or even put him in the wild cat. Jahvid Best's elusiveness and ability to hit the edge and take it the distance set him apart. He's a great play maker and is the kind of player fans love to watch. His injury history is only a minor concern. I wouldn't worry too much about the concussion as it was just a freak accident.

OK pick, but a bit of a reach for Best

Wrong pick. Defense should definitely be addressed here.

Woohoo!

First Cal player off the board!! Still, I voted that he might be a reach here. I’m concerned about his durability, and you’re right – his ability between the tackles is definitely questionable.

How can you not love a team that does this?

I dont get to do all 3 of New Englands 2nd round picks???

Buzzkill

As long as we have Peyton (and no surprise gay onside kicks are made) we will always have a chance to win.
