The stupidest pick I've ever seen at #31
Over the last few months, I've seen some odd picks for the Colts in the first round. A month and a half ago, Roger Saffold was a head-scratcher. I've seen picks that made me laugh and shake my head at that mocker's lack of understanding of the Colt's system, like Mt. Cody at #31. But never, ever have I seen a pick that made me yell at my computer in sheer frustration.

The link above to NFL.com's analyst mock. Marshall Faulk, representing the Colts at #31, selects....Matt Tennent C, Boston College. That's right, a prospect rated in the third or fourth round is selected by one of the best drafters in the history of the game. Not only is Roger Saffold still on the board (Sorry Shake Dallas took Charles Brown), but Jerry Hughes, who I think is Bill Polian's guy in the first, is still available! Come on Marshall, I expected better from you.

I like Tennant
but not anywhere near the 1st round.
Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.
Just how deeply can your senses be wrong? With some VR goggles, a camera and a touch on the back researchers were able to overcome a person's sense of being inside their own body.
Don’t get me wrong Shake, I agree. I love Tennent and think he’d be a great pick in the third or fourth round. It’s not the player that bothers me, it’s the pick number

Clausen, Bulaga, and Earl Thomas all in the 2nd round
That guy obviously knows his football.
It's not that I'm lazy, Bob, it's that I just don't care
Wow...
That may be the worst mock I have ever seen. Misevaluating one player’s draft status is one thing, but this guy has a dozen later rounders going in the top 32. Wow… just wow.

Tennant isn't anywhere near as bad a mock draft pick as Terrence Cody
That is abysmally horrid. Cody has no business on the Colts in the slightest, it’s beyond stupid.
Toss up between Cody and shake’s discovery of Smith at 31 for which is the absolute worst.
agreed
this was very stupid, and it was a complete waste of time reading it
i guess we know when we got rid of Faulk… not the brightest tool in the shed
Nor was he the sharpest bulb on the Christmas tree
But a tool… yes, a tool for sure.
I hate Joe Namath. That's how long I've been a Colts fan.
You guys are being way to hard on Faulk here, Tennant is an exceptional player
He’s ridiculously underrated by some people, thinking he’s going to go in the 5th round or thereabouts. He’s going to make whichever team picks him up in the 2nd or maybe 3rd round very happy.
People thought the Giants reached taking Chris Snee in the early 2nd. People thought the Patriots reached taking Logan Mankins at the end of the 1st. Both of those guys are two of the best, if not the two best, guards in football. Don’t just blindly assume.
The only weakness people can tag on Tennant is that he needs to keep his weight up, because he played at 280 at Boston College and then played at 290 at the Senior Bowl. They have to drum up negatives by saying he will have trouble with huge nose tackles, as though other centers (even 20 lbs. heavier) wouldn’t. Tennant gets it done on the field and plays to the whistle.
If the Colts took Tennant at #31 I would be quite pleased. Not sure if I would make that pick though because I think there could be a bigger need elsewhere (DE?), Tennant’s athleticism/measurables leave me a little wanting, and most importantly, I still have very high hopes for Mike Pollak.
Pollak was exceptional in college, for those who never saw him. Thought he was as good as Alex Mack, almost as good as Nick Mangold. He struggled as a rookie thanks to knee injuries and the pro transition to right guard, and dealt with a 2nd team demotion as a sophomore thanks to a back injury and Howard Mudd continuing to satisfy his fetish for undersized pluggers who can’t really run-block in Kyle DeVan.
I think Pollak will be very good in the years ahead. He’ll probably get to compete for the left guard spot this summer, and if nothing else, can be the center of the future after Saturday. Center was Pollak’s position in college, he excelled there.
I agree that Tennant would be a very good 3rd or even 2nd round pick
and I have hopes for Pollak back at center. Tennant in the first is very very unlikely in my estimation though and the faith the Colts org has earned with it’s history would be the only thing that would keep me off the ledge if it happened.

I don't think Tennant has the measurables to be drafted by the Colts in the 1st (or maybe at all)
So I wouldn’t worry about that particular bit if I were you.
Plus maybe the Colts are just looking for a bigger guy in general (315-210 lbs).
I don't think it's fair to say that's the only reason Mudd replaced Pollack
Guy was like one of those revolving doors the old Hoosier Dome used to have. Remember, where the difference in the air pressure would make your ears pop? How many guys blew right by him before he got yanked? If he lets guys by him at guard, what’s going to stop him from doing the same at center?
just because a player is first round talent it doesn't make it a good pick
if you take a guy with first round talent but could have had him with your third pick you aren’t maximizing your value. Why not get two guys with first round talent then instead of one first, one second, one third.

Marshall Faulk a great player but sucks as an analyst
Marshall Faulk was one of the best running backs I’ve seen, but he sucks as an analyst, especially a Colts analyst. Everytime I hear him talk about the Colts its as though he hates the team. He dishes them left and right. And some of his statements regarding the Colts seem totally off and without any real research. I think most Colts fans have a much better understanding of the team than him. To me, he just seems like a prick.

The more Marshall talks
The more Marshall talks, the happier I am we traded him when we did. Don’t get me wrong, he was a great player and a decent person, he just wasn’t a true Colt.
