With the 36th Pick in the 2010 Stampede Blue Community Mock Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select...

Terrence Cody, DT - Alabama

Pick made by sanders_fan89:

The Chiefs are in desperate need of a true NT. The high draft picks at DT in recent years have been on tackles that are best suited to a Tampa Cover 2 system and thus not a fit for their new 3-4. The current starter, Ron Edwards, is getting long in the tooth entering his 11th year and backup NT, Dion Gales, weighs only 259lbs, a good 60lbs short of being a NT in the NFL. At a staggering 354lbs "Mount" Terrence Cody is more that large enough to fit this 2-gap system. He is very stout at the point of attack and does a good job occupying multiple blockers allowing the LB to run freely. He's very good against the run and has a good ability of shedding blockers as shown in a game last year when he blocked 2 field goals. However, stamina has been an issue in the past as he is really just a 2 down tackle. He has also shown a propensity to let his weight get out of hand coming to the Crimson Tide at around 400lbs. Even though this is a reach, Scott Pioli knows how rare true NT's are and won't let him slip past this spot.

How will he impact the 2010 Chiefs?

Terrence Cody can easily be a starter next year and shore up an abominable Chiefs run defense simply due to the lack of other options. His size should let LB's Tamba Hali and Mike Vrabel to run freely to the ball carrier and rush the passer more effectively giving the secondary more chances for INT's. Mount Cody could make a huge impact on an ill equipped and inexperienced Chiefs D-line.

Was going to be an pick for Buffalo

until Cody went off the board. Good pick, but I hate you for taking him.

I would have really hated you if

you took Cody 1 pick before me.

With the McNabb trade, I think KC will draft Clausen with the first, and trade Cassel for a 2nd rounder.

Why do you think they will trade Cassel,

and what would that have to do with the McNabb trade?

The Redskins have McNabb, they probably won’t draft a QB in round 1. So if the Rams take Bradford, Clausen should be there at #5. Cassel is only average or slightly above average QB. Clausen has more upside and could make a seamless transition with his former coach being the OC in KC.

They already paid for one QB.

They would be giving up on him after 1 year and still be in the same situation as Bradford goes through the same adjusting period that Cassel has already gone through. Seems like way too much of a stretch to me to happen.

Yeah, and KC has too many needs to pay big money to a backup QB.
