Dumb Question
But what do you consider Gonzo’s old job? Slot or Wide?
Starting
He was the starting WR in Week One. He is competing for that. But, then again, that’s an assumption on my part.

A quote from RapidReports
Colts WR Anthony Gonzalez doesn’t know what the receiver rotation will be next season, but he said he has been told he will get a chance to compete for the outside WR position. "That’s the goal, yes," he said.

How can you not love a team that does this?
I believe that the first sentence
is a statement by John Oehser, so unclear whether it’s a near-quote or an interpretation

Consider also
He’s competing for a job that was handed to him last year when Marvin left. Here is what I wrote:
Unless Garcon comes into camp and gets hurt himself, or he simply dogs it and looks horrible, the starting job is his to lose. And in the pecking order of the team, this means Gonzo is WR #4; the primary back-up for both Reggie, Pierre, and Austin.Based on Gonzo’s comments, I don’t see how that statement gets altered, or is wrong in any way. But, we’ll see.

I think Gonzo is the 2nd best reciever but;
He is so fdamn good in the slot, it’s in the Colts best interest to keep Gonzo there. Pierre could be #2 hypothetically, but, Gonzo will get more catches and looks from PM. In the slot, Gonzo is covered by #3 CB’s or a safety.

I agree with that
He’s the MAN in slot.

Collie is the man in slot
If Austin Collie loses his job I will be most upset.

I'm liking Collie a lot more lately.
I blame your influence.

Me, too!
I believe Gonzalez and Garçon need to watch their backs!

Nah
Collie will never be anything more than a slot receiver, but he’s going to be amazing at it. First down machine and he was the best receiver in the playoffs.

I've always loved Stokley.

How about double slots?
On plays where Clark sits, put in Gonzo AND Collie and call it the Casino package.
I don't always drink beer....but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis.
I think Gonzo is a better fit for slot then Collie
Gonzos quickness and hands lend him to slot, Collie played great as a rookie. But, he did have some costly drops for us. I believe that in the slot, Gonzo and Dallas are the leagues best. I dont think there will be much debate about who has the better hands, between, Gonzo and Collie.

Actually
Collie played better in the slot during his first year than did Gonzo in his first year.

hawkeye
I understand your point, he may well have produced better numbers his first year in the slot, but, Gonzo is ideal for the slot position. I would say Gonzo is quicker, has better hands and runs better routes then Collie. Id give Collie the edge in speed.

I think I'd put it the other way around
Gonzo has the edge in speed and Collie has the edge in hands. Comparing first year to first year that is.

In a perfect world
We’d have a rotation and look for the best matchups. I’m just hoping all four stay healthy. Competition is always a good thing.
Plus, I think we have some very good candidates for #5.
Sam Giguere is the 5th WR
