Jackson had to be carted off the field during an Eagles practice today. Appears to be the same knee that caused him trouble here. Please keep this former Colt in your thoughts!

UPDATE: Eagles are now saying it's a ankle injury. Hopefully we'll see Marlin on the field at some point during this season.

UPDATE 2: Jackson ruptured his achilles tendon.

If it's serious

The Colts should offer him a DB coaching assistant job.

Sounds like a job for resident ankle expert Bayone

Back to back acl surgeries past 2 years, on both knees. Looks like the right one has buggered up again since he went down untouched

REmembe I originally posted his denial of limping and foirced to stop practice,

Marlin Jackson Attemting To Work His Way Back With Eagles But Still Recovering
Still recovering from surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament, Marlin Jackson was ordered to rest & spent much of practice Thursday resting on one knee as the Eagles’ defense went through team drills.
Jackson dismissed reports that he was moving with a limp Wednesday in what was his first practice since getting hurt.

Wish I knew more , no details , havent read link yet .

Link says its right ankle not knee once I read it but no details so wont speculate

Need to Know alot more but this will be hard to come back from if bad as it was his right ACL torn last year he was still recovering from according to article that my link gave . If this is bad alot depends on how right knee is as all are connected and if knee not solid yet this will just set both back as wont have either as a stable platform to recover from. At this point until details of knees and especially this ankle are more forthcoming its anyones guess . Need the MRI report and further details

Just have to prey for him, since he was ordered to not practice after his first and since he denied reports about lkimping after the first workout, one has to wonder if he new something and just pushed to hard out of desperation to play

Quite unfortunate , and very sad to here

BBS reports he was carted off field, discouraging news, may have been just precation

but if he really couldnt put any weight on it as BBS says , and wasnt carted just to be carful ,speculation would indicate more thgan 1 ligament involved and tear can be significant. AGAIN NEED MRI RESULTS TO Know Anthing as well as what Dr,. actually can tellclinically which we may never know

Hmmm

I doubt well ever see any MRI scans, but it doesnt sound good from what your saying. Poor guy. I hope people dont talk to much about how clever the colts are for letting him go, dont bask in the misery of someone who did nothing but work hard and help this team.

My guess is

that the Colts FO were torn about how to deal with Marlin. I have to believe they’re taking this turn of events as cold comfort at best.

How can you not love a team that does this?

Cold comfort.

That’s a good way to put it.

Knowing Colts...

if Marlin gets healthy, looks good, plays well and doesn’t demand a BIG paycheck, he may be back…. I definitely hope so….

We wont see MRI but may get a report pending how comfortable they are realeasing one

Below says he was crying , could be realizing how bad or just crying like oh no not again and what if its as bad as it feels, 3 major injuries he would have to be thinking , if true can end carreer, Hope not but never know if really that bad, would u take a chance on him , and it could have been knee pain causing him to buckle and turn ankle we will probably never know. Anyway I must get off now

I like your csi style deduction

that maybe the knee pain caused him to buckle and turn his ankle

If hes out for another season, I dont really see him bouncing back, as sad as it is. I hope I’m wrong.

ColtUK

I know u r interested , but if 2 ligaments are torn , pending how bad u need immediate surgery, if all 3 main ones go definitely, There are other ligaments as well that if torn can result in a lax ankle & I am assuming this is a sprain where the foot was turned in, an inversion sprain, the most common type

Please Read My 1st paragraph of profile to realize my multiple disabilities making it hard to type correctly if there are many typos etc

by bayone on Jun 1, 2010 4:21 PM EDT up reply actions

So surgery

would probably mean hes out for the season right?

Hank Baskett IS A WANKER

by ColtsUK on Jun 1, 2010 4:25 PM EDT up reply actions

If Surgery Now Probably half , all depends on # of ligaments, if complete tear etc many possibilities

but we are getting ahead of ourselves, lets hope hes just carted for protection and cried from shock , Lets wish him the best. One could write a treatise with all the pssibilities so it really does no good till learn more.

DID U READ THE LINKOF was bleeding green that revealed

Team trainers helped Jackson limp off the turf. Jackson appeared to be favoring his right knee. After making it to the sideline, Jackson angrily punched the bubble’s wall and appeared to be sobbing loudly. After exiting the bubble with some of the medical staff, Jackson was taken by cart to the complex for treatment. He could be seen with his hands over his eyes as the cart drove away from the bubble and toward the complex.

So he was able to put some weight on it, but yes it doesnt look good , could be just bad high one or could be season ending, In time we will here more, Thats why cant really speculate, plus if needed surgery healing from surgery is one thing , muscles will atrophy in cast and he first would have to rehab again . As I said to many variables and inknowns for anyone to speculate, even the team Drs at this point

Now my friend I really must go, have a good day

A good night maybe for us in the UK

Have a good day yourself.

I appreciate your input, it might seem silly trying to speculate so much on a former player, but I’m going to be really gutted if it turns out to be season or god forbid career ending.

Had to help Mom with her breathing machine ( nebulizer )

Now here its ruptured Achilles, if so 2 choices IR, or wait till 6 or 7th week , whatever it is NFL rquired and put on PUP list and then make the determination when time limit up. Dont know if full or partial tear that will also determine exact treatment and decision about IR now or later but any is not a welcome situation.

True shame

AS said havent worked since 88, if full tear his foot may just drop

that is it would just point down & he has no power to raise it, so probably a partial as he did put presuure on it but still can be a large area torn. Often u actually feel gap acroos the tendon and can tell its ruptured without the MRI but not the real degree that MRI would reveal.. Also can be torn near ankle or higher up near wear tendon starts and calf muscle is . Surgery in the past can sometimes be done with a tiny incision and sure technigues alot better now.

If not requireing a full open procedure ( often done if surgery performed later and pending the rupture & occupation sometimes we did the surgery via 6 tiny insions that are actually 3 punture ( 3 hioles on each side ) to to allow access to resew & secure in more than 1 spot, Post op 4 weeks non weight bearing cast, 4 weeks weight bearu=ing cast , then 4 weeks of 1 exercise and then 4 of another, thats 4 months, then exercises for strength, I imagine technigues have advanced but thats 1 example of minmal one. U can also try casting without surgery but studies in past show more of a tendency to rerupture . Again BASED ON PAST TECHNIGUES < NOT UP TO DATE ON NEWEST AND PRO ATHETES ALWAYS TREAT DIFFERENTKLY TO GET THEM BACK ASAP.

If u delay surgery the torn ends can fray and degenerate and then often need part of another tendon to reinforce, weakening the other tendon.

I dont care how advanced things are now , hes in trouble.

Ruptures often happen in individuals with sedentary lifestyle and then exert sudden stress, lets face it , he just may have done to much to fast, all speculation I know but he must of had clearence to workout ,

Know u want my 2 cents coltUK

There may be endoscopic ways to treat and recover faster

but best guess noi matter what they due to treat it and I would bet its surgery I just cant see him back this year no matter how fast he heals as the stress on it will be to great and 1st tons of rehab for this and atrophied muscles that develope during the postop time

I cant imagine what he must be feeling at this point. Its simply a devastating blow

Ruptured Achilles tendon

Christ

He’s the epitome of a first-rounder with all the potential in the world that just can’t catch a break and never makes it past his rookie deal. It’s a tough league and a tough game, all the best to him in what is likely now his post-football life.

He’s got that ring, nobody can ever take that away from him.
