Brees should be ahead of Brady. If we are talking about RIGHT NOW.

Brady by no means had a “down year” in 2009 but I think Brees is the better QB as of RIGHT NOW. Brady could go out and prove me wrong but he should be at No. 2 on those lists.

If we are talking about career, than Brady hands down.

i think they are talking about 2010....

which is the upcoming season…. Was Brees having a better statistical season than Brady in 2009? I don’t follow them so I don’t know….

Brees had 10 fewer yards

than Brady but his rating was 13.4 points higher and he threw 6 more TDs and led his team to three more wins than Brady did.

Actually, I think if it weren't for the fact that Brees has a Super Bowl and more wins this past year...

Then the debate would be closer. Then again, I think that’s probably why Manning gets top Billing. Alot of the rankings probably have to deal alot with a players perceived effect as much as with their actual ability. Brady had one of his best statistical years last year, but couldn’t get wins in a number of games.

Just another example of how team performance act as an overbiased multiplier on individual contributions and ability.

(That said, I’d still say Brees was the better QB last year in a Brady v Brees debate)

Ya, I had that same reaction too.

My first thought is, “Of course brady is number 2 to Manning.” Then I thought about it for a half a second and then I remembered, “Oh ya, but Brady couldn’t keep pace with his sucky defense, whereas Brees could,” and my opinion flips.

I really am surprised the Saints won as many games as they did. I mean, I know we had 7 squeakers ourselves, but alot of those times we’d take leads within the first few minutes of the 4th quarter then hold it for the rest of the game. We generally didn’t rely on “2-minute drill,” wind the clock down to 2 seconds then spike the ball last play throws/kicks to win. Brees and Brady both had a few of those types (so did we, specifically in week 2, and against the Pats), but Brady lost some bigger ones whereas Brees won the bigger ones. Again, its just all perspective.

Brady #3

I’ll still take Brees at number 2. Brady’s decision making is starting to be suspect, as he gets older. Maybe he’s not as patient as he used to be. Don’t get me wrong, he’s still great…but his body can’t make some of the plays he used to.

I’d put Revis at #2. He shut down both Randy Moss and Tom Brady simultaneously, twice, in the same season. And then there’s the host of other receivers he made useless (except Wayne of course).

by KingRichard on Jun 25, 2010 4:47 PM EDT reply actions

I’d wonder about Revis. Technically, he did make Reggie pretty useless (Peyton just went elsewhere). Anyone watching those games can say that Reggie was occasionally beating him on routes, but I’m sure most of the people he “shut down” made a few catches. He’s still not to the place where Asomugha (SP?) is, where a lot of QBs just avoid throwing at him.

by WaynesWorld on Jun 27, 2010 9:48 AM EDT up reply actions

Wayne toasted Revis quite a few times

in week 16, IIRC.

by Cassieper on Jun 29, 2010 12:32 AM EDT up reply actions

yes...

and we know that because we watched the game. I’m sure he got burned by other wideouts too, we just didn’t see them. As it stands, Reggie didn’t post good numbers when Revis covered him, and neither did any wideouts who faced them, even if they did “toast” him on a few routes.

by WaynesWorld on Jun 29, 2010 2:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Stats probably skewed by Lito Shepard sucking so hard on the other side. Why throw at Revis when the WR is a little bit when when Lito can’t even find his guy.

by invisibulman on Jun 29, 2010 4:57 PM EDT up reply actions

I saw a lot of Revis

he made some receivers look invisible, not every snap but he really covered his guys pretty well.

That being said, and you can call me biased if you want but Wayne had the kid beat numerous times Week 16.

He shut down Randy Moss and Tom Brady simultaneously?

I’m not sure I understand that statement.
