Colts Claim Brandstater Off Waivers From Denver

Adam Schefter tweeted an hour ago that the Colts have picked QB Tom Brandstater off waivers from Denver. There's already a crowded field lining up to back up Manning... let's see what happens.

Brandstater was cut from the Broncos last week, after he couldn't get enough reps behind Kyle Orton, Brady Quinn and newcomer Tim Tebow. This guy is really interesting to me because (a) he's a Californian, and (b) he is HUGE! At 6'5" and 225 pounds, I think he is the biggest QB not named Peyton Manning on the Colts roster.

A 2009 6th round pick out of Fresno State, Brandstater did not see action last year.

Seriously though, does anyone know how many players are allowed to be on the roster at this time? I think we have 88 right now.

I actually like this move....

This Brandstater guy caught my eyes last year during the draft… and he actually played pretty well in pre-season games. He could actually become a back-up for Manning. If anyone can find some of his films to post, it will be great! :)

great pickup for peytons backup. get rid of painter NOW. at least this guy seems to not wilt in pocket pressure the second the snap goes off like painter

I think it would be hysterical if branstater has a more successful backup career than jesus tebow. I said after the broncos released him so jesus could justify being picked first…. that the colts needed to pick him up immediately!

would love for mcdouchbags qb-ing expertise, being thrown back at him in future years along with all the rest of the players hes threateded by IT SEEMS
