In defense of BBS
In defense of BBS
Though am not a regular felt like sharing my opinion...Feel free to take out the Pitchforks right now .
BBS is usually very outspoken and wears his opinions on his heartsleeves.I for one definetly like the way he writes and have no problem .
I distinctly remember Week 16 ( ya that infamous one …..) when the debates were raging on this site. The majority of the regulars were stiflingly united in their chorus that criticizing the team was literally like descerating the holy grail or something…..Some of the other commenters were trying to share a viewpoint that the faces of the players reflected a deep pain and Polian should not have done that.
BBS was sharing the view of the non regular commenters and was just airing out his opinions. People even commented that by repeatedly posting those topics BBS was somehow undermining the mental strength of the team or something !!!! Ya right like the random opinions on a blog meant so dearly to the players.
By brining down his administrator hammer BBS is probably ensuring the other side of the viewpoints are also probably heard….
The same thing took place in the Reggie wayne thread as well.. a few of the commenters felt Reggie was not justified in demanding this hike…Which was met with a pretty strongly worded putdown by DZ. And then the debate started getting skewed with the opinions of the usual commenters saying it is fine for Reggie to say that.
Why should only the opinions of a few be heard always…..Why should not one criticize the team management as in Week 16….Why is it looked down upon so much in this site for anybody to raise even a single opinion against Reggie or anybody else when their actions are not justified.
If a few start questioning it is met with Dead horse floggin Gif’s or a Robotic chorus of ….Think positive…No Criticism…Justify anything.
BBS does these extreme actions to balance out the maddening din of the chorus on this site which does not allow even for justified criticism of any player.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors.

"Why should only the comments of a few be heard?"
The only people with the power to silence posters are those with the ability to delete their posts or ban them.
Everyone’s opinion is heard, unless BBS or another Mod decides they shouldn’t be.

The issue is i have seen A LOT of criticisms and attacks on BBS....
i did not agree with him on a lot of issues. BUT I am also tired of reading the attacks. IF he really try to silence the other comments, we wouldn’t even be able to read the attacks or ridicules on him in this blog. Believe me, I believe Gonzo is better than Garcon, when Gonzo is healthy. And sometimes BBS, like many others here, are harsh and sometimes self-contradictory! We all are. I love the Colts and I hope fans who post here also love the Colts and want them to succeed. This should be a great site, managed by BBS. If he is wrong, let us just say it and move on instead of attacking him. For some naive reasons, i think those ridicules and insults should be reserved for ignorant trolls instead of our head blogger. AND, one thing, the staff that he chose to help him run this site do not usually share his opinions and even join in the anti-BBS movements …. and that kinda tells me BBS is not a dictator as most believe he is, UNLESS he has NO say over who the other editors are on StampedeBlue. ![]()

Explanation:
Everyone disagrees with everyone at this site at one point in time, for the most part. That is subjective opinion, which is the fun part of discussing sports.
“Ridicules and insults " are as regularly handed out by the person you are defending as much as any other post on this site. That is undeniable. Thus, your point is that BBS should walk the talk that you, he, and we all expect him to give in the Community Guidelines.
I’m an 18to88 fan. I come here for Colts info and the community of fellow Colts fanatics, not the analysis provided by BBS. Yes, dissent is a sign of a tolerant community. Unless, that dissent is only afforded those who are viewed as “constructive dissent.”
There is no such thing. I’d love to see this site get back to pre-week 16 nomenclature. The problem is that is not going to serve those who want controversy, and thus site hits. There is a reason that journalists, who BBS declares himself to not be, create provocative headlines, and, that is viewership. And, that is the cause of massive problems here. BBS is a not a journalist, he’s just a regular person with a very, very big parchment on which to write, for better or worse. And, lately, it’s for the worse.
Here comes ban 101 for “not being on topic” despite talking about everything relevant here.

All good read..... and thanks...
I am really NOT “defending” BBS… I don’t know enough to do so. But I am tired of seeing the attacks and do believe the last incident was kinda started by DZ, whom I like. I “LOVE” but lack the ability to insult, ridicule or tease “mean-spirited” or “ignorant” TROLLS and i hope fellow Colts fans can save the ammunition for the appropriate troll attacks…….. But no matter how much I dislike our own head blogger, I would not venture to do those to him …. say he is wrong, say he is right, say he said this and then that, then move on….. Honestly i have yet to find another site with such open dialogs and fan-friendly comment technology. I think we should just take advantage of it. If BBS is crazy, wrong or plain irrational, I will have just ignored his views and move on………… There are LOTS of very funny, witty, knowledgeable and silly comrades here … give the head blogger some respects unless he does something “totally & exceptionally evil”…… bawahhhhhhaaaaaaa ![]()

Another thing that made this mess bigger
was Jamkel’s ban. That is quite concerning, but at the same time, we don’t know what actually happened there. However, and no matter the reasons, that pissed me off.
I haven’t seen TAC here lately, and he has a warning already. Why? Don’t know, but as with Jamkel, I have never read anything offensive from them. Closing comments on some posts pisses me as well.

what does it mean when the blog membership logo was yellowed under

If you think it is 'for the worse'
why do you bother to come around. I agree things got a little nuts after week 16, but this is a blog. NOT a news site. If you don’t like what BBS has to say, don’t bother to read rather than complaining about the way he does things. This site has been around for a few years now, and for someone who has been reading if for a good part of that time, I get a little sick of people thinking it somehow needs to be so different.
An expert is someone who knows more and more about less and less until they know everything about nothing...
I come around for the news.
And, despite what you say, this site brings me Colts news far faster than any other site.

If you want Indy Lori back...............
Start a Peyton bashing thread. Hey BBS, as far as this other stuff goes, I think the most important question since you and yours started this blog is: Are you guys happy with the site, and does it provide the medium that you envisioned? For me, this is my first place to go to get Colts info, there are two others that I like, but here is where I spend the bulk of Colts time. I could care less who likes or doesn’t like you. Right here is where I come first and foremost. By the way, you have a bugger hanging out of your left nostril.

Balanced? No.
Taking an extreme position in response to someone else’s extreme position is not balance. But I don’t think that’s what happened in the Reggie story. I think BBS just staked out his own extreme position and then came down hard on the opposing extreme position.
It was another highly emotional opinion piece ending with schoolyard insults and thinly-veiled profanity (“sh*t”?? what could that possibly mean???). And yet DZ got banned even though his comments weren’t much different in tone, not even after BBS poked him with a sarcastic reply.
This is not a good start to the “community guidelines” era, with the site admin cracking down on someone he was directly arguing against.
BBS is trying, I believe that. But his Wayne article was inflammatory, his first comments were confrontational, and his shutdown of the topic was an over-reaction. I think he’s over-correcting the policing of other people’s words while under-correcting the moderating of his own.
These are growing pains that lots of communities go through. BBS isn’t a bad person and Stampede Blue is not going to hell in a handcart. But yeah, more work is needed.

How is this still open for comments but NYK's post was closed?
It’s the same thing except one is complimentary and the other is disagreeing (without any personal attacks)…Just my opinion.

I went over that post
And it follows the Guidelines completely. No personal attacks. Opinions backed up, including those that disagree with someone else. I’d like an answer to this question.

Here's my thoughts
There was nothing in the other article that warranted a thread closure or warning, or whatever else may come from it. There seems to be a bit of a censorship problem going on here. “Agree with my opinion or GTFO” and I don’t agree with that one bit. If we are trying to build this blog and make it a fun environment for talk about our beloved Colts then EVERYONE needs to have an opinion. Not just the ones we pick and chose to agree with. As long as there is no personal attacks then why can’t we have different opinions? A sign of a health blog is debates. If we all agreed on ever single freaking issue, this place would be a total snooze fest.
I find it sad that the people being run off the regulars. People who spend A LOT of freaking time on this website. Some of which have been here since the beginning of this blog. I have not, been here but a little over a year, but I have enough comments, and spend enough time here to consider myself a regular. And quite honestly it’s getting ridiculous around here.
For the most part I agree with the things BBS says. But not every time. And I expect to be able to voice my opinion without fear of being warned or banned for having a different opinion than BBS or even a different opinion than the majority. NYK’s post followed the new “Community Guidelines” he didn’t take personal shots at anyone. He simply pointed out opinions of others and countered them with his own.
If you want a blog full of noob zombies who agree with every single thing said on the front page, so be it. Just keep doing what you your doing and you’ll have it in no time. But if you want a blog with healthy debate and discussion, then people need to be able to voice their uniquely different opinoins. Just my 2 cents….do with me what you will.

As a complete 'rookie'...
…to this blog, I can certainly understand the feeling that there’s a double standard: namely, that admins can say (er, type) things that would likely get us ordinary plebians warned or even banned.
However, my perspective on the now locked Reggie thread was that it devolved into a mess due not to the fact that there was disagreement, but rather due to the WAY people were expressing that disagreement. The tone of the entire thread shifted when one poster announced that the people who had posted thus far were “ignorant” of how the sports business functions, condescendingly ordered others to “get a grip” and summarily dismissed all anti-Reggie sentiment as “irrational.” Those are insulting, belittleing statements that are bound to create a contentious environment irrespective of whether you agree or disagree with the person’s football-related stance. I’ve been a part of a few different sites as both a participant and moderator, and I honestly can’t envision any situation in which a mod WOULDN’T intervene when members are being so blatantly insulted.
That’s not to dismiss people’s complaints about certain admins being hypocritical or power hungry or whatever…just to say that, in yesterday’s situation, I thought intervention and discipline of that member was totally warranted.
As one wise soul noted in another thread: if we stick to talking about the team (and all of its many, many issues!), we should be fine and have the kind of spirited, interesting discussions and disagreements that sites liek this promote. If we start insulting the posters themselves, that’s where the site becomes frustrating, off-topic and just a generally unpleasant place to visit.
Just my two cents from a newbie perspective. I’m in NYC and am sadly isolated from most fellow Colts fans, so communities like this one could potentially mean a lot to me. I hope I’m able to stick around.
This thread is going to get locked if people don't start staying on topic
I’ll repeat this again, because some of you just aren’t listening:
When comments are locked on another thread, taking the same argument to a new thread or creating a FanPost specifically to continue said argument is akin to trolling. Once an article or FanPost’s comments are locked, discussion terminates.Got it?
If you have a comment on what Horseshoe_Tsunami wrote here, by all means comment. Discussion on NYKing’s thread is closed. In fact, the reason it was closed was because of some of the very things Horseshoe_Tsunami wrote.

It is
It’s falls under the “instigating something” category. Also, it’s pretty self-explanatory. When an admin locks a thread and says “knock it off,” he means it.
Also, I know you aren’t trying to stir trouble. your question was a good one. I hope I answered it well.

Anonymity breeds inhumanity. In simpler terms, don't be a troll.
I say that because...
I thought it was only people like me considered to be “trolls” by BBS who have recieved his now infamous warning of being banned. After reading several of the posts it seems that even Colts fans have to tread lightly for fear of being banned.
I’ve been a member to this site for a while now, and have not seen this much regulatory purview in the past. Even with guidelines in place. I’m very surprised to see that it has come to this, but all things considered then again maybe not. Here’s to another season.
