Edgerrin James Jersey

We have all seen them. We scoff and say "Hey! Look at that loser! Pony up and get a new jersey, shooter." I hate it when I see jerseys of players that have recently been traded, retired, or gone unsigned *cough* Vanderjagt *cough*. But as the years pass, I feel the Edge is inching closer to throwback status. Which leaves one question. When, if at all, will the #32 James jersey be acceptable in public?

Edge is like the second most popular Colts player, and he hasn’t been a Colt for a long time.

If you don’t want yours I’ll give you $5 cash for it. LETS DO THIS

Edge's jersey

has always been beyond acceptable, imo.

How can you not love a team that does this?

Mine is on the wall next to Harbaugh and Aaron Bailey. I can’t afford to get rid of that. It really ties the room together.

Harrion's Jersey

Is Harrison’s still acceptable?

I don’t get it, why do people feel the need to ask if this jersey or that jersey is acceptable.
If a person is a fan of a player and would like to have said players jersey why would you care what others thought.

I bought my Edge jersey for $15

when the Cardinals went to the Super Bowl. I wore it that once and when Edge was an honorary captain for us last year in the AFC Championship game. I don’t mind that much when people still wear them. I only get depressed when I see Stokley jerseys ’cuz I miss him so.

It's ALWAYS

Acceptable to wear old players jersey’s, except when they do something to disrespect the franchise….like molest a kid or rape a woman..or Mike Vick…

I own a practically mint condition Harrison jersey, and I still wear it on special games…..hard to find them in larger than XXL…

by DevilsReject on Jul 21, 2010 8:46 PM EDT reply actions

One Rule of Thumb

a buddy of mine uses is to wait until the player in question retires, then you can wear the jersey again. Personally, I think that you should wear a great player’s jersey unless he’s become a db. So I’ve never stopped wearing my Edge jersey.

by Reds_Colts1975 on Jul 21, 2010 9:47 PM EDT reply actions

ok different question

as a fan of one team who admires a player from another team, is it acceptable to wear a jersey of said player? or is that just plain blasphemy?

That one is hard to break down.

Here’s how I’d do it…
In division – Absolutely not!
In conference – I’d advise against it, esp. if said player plays for SD or NE
In NFC – eh, why the hell not? I rock a Giants shirt and an Eagles shirt every now and then :)

Considering the near legendary status of Edge and Harrison, I’d say that they’re ok. I wouldn’t begrudge anyone that wears either, mainly because jerseys are really expensive and they were both key contributors to the franchise. Also acceptable: Glenn, Manning, Wayne, Clark, Saturday, Mathis, Brackett, Vinatieri, Freeney, and Sanders.

Unacceptable now, but might be in the future: Garcon, Collie, Bethea, Gonzalez, Bullitt, Sessions, Wheeler, Addai, and Brown.

Never acceptable: Gardner, Vanderjagt, Sorgi, and Simon. Any of those will get you made fun of mercilessly.

Interesting perspective on which ones

are unacceptable now but maybe in the future

What? What's wrong with any of those guys that are in your "unacceptable now" category?

Everybody in the "Acceptable’ category either retired on good terms, is a franchise legend, or will be one day.

Everyone in the “Unacceptable Now, But Might Be Later” category is a good player, but needs a pro bowl berth and/or a second contract. Especially a second contract. Otherwise, you end up wearing the jersey of a guy that’s tearing it up for another team. Out of that list, I would say Bethea, Bullitt, and Sessions are the most likely to move up to acceptable soonest. I see all of them being signed to second contracts and either being Pro Bowlers or very valuable contributors. Addai is good, but I’m not sold that the Colts will resign him, although if you bought his jersey after the Super Bowl season, I’m willing to let it slide. Collie, Brown, and Garcon need more work before they move up, although I’d consider them strong contenders. Wheeler is the least likely. He’s okay, but not quite as good as Sessions.

For the record, I bought an Authentic Manning jersey. This season, I’m getting a Freeney Jersey.

Ah okay now after seeing your reasoning it makes much more sense!

I think you had most everyone befuddled! The white Addai was bought after SB season, my blue Addai was won.

I want a Bullitt jersey.

Such a cool name and player. Why would he be “unacceptable” now?

Sanders is acceptable but not Bethea!?

I won’t own a Manning jersey until he retires. He gets so much love already, I love supporting the other guys. I have Addai, Clark, and Garcon. The Garcon jersey was a christmas gift though, ’cuz I always complained about him not catching the ball.

by hoosierdore on Jul 23, 2010 10:10 AM EDT up reply actions

I mean, I still wear my StL Cardinals Rolen shirt

And he now plays with the rival Reds.

It is always acceptable to wear the jersey or shirt of a former key player of the team you are a fan of.

I have to disagree with one thing that Monkey Business said. Addai is a good player the Colts won a Super Bowl with. I would be more than happy with an Addai jersey.

A blue and a white, love em both and have no clue why they would be “unacceptable”…….

I always wear my marshal faulk jersey on game day. I don’t really care for the guy, but it’s like my “lucky” jersey. It’s been good for 12 wins a year for a long time now. My sister got me an authentic manning jersey last year, so I might have to retire the faulk jersey.

While we're on the subject of jerseys...

I have a DFree93 jersey. Completely authentic with the hand stitched this and that, yada yada the only problem is – it’s the SB44 jersey. My wife won it in a giveaway at her work. Is this jersey okay to wear? I mean, it’s got the giant ugly orange reminder of SB44 on it…

for the superbowl, before anyone knew whether he would get extended. Love GB and was willing to take the chance.

Manning is, obviously, The Man

but EVEYBODY and their brother is wearing his blue jersey. I’ve got Clark in blue and his 2010 Pro Bowl Jersey (awesome, BTW), my wife has Collie’s Blue, daughter has Manning’s 2010 Pro Bowl and son has Manning in Blue (he is a purist!) Smallest daughter has Manning in… PINK! I am probably gonna get a white Clark to complete the set and maybe even a black Clark for special occasions.
