What draft pick(s) do you wish were selected by our Colts the most?
Maybe this is a rehash, but like many Colt fans I'm obsessing over the upcoming season during this lull. I'm wondering if anyone besides myself day dreams about missed draft picks that you WISHED the Colts had selected. For me, I was rooting for a cb or Brian Price in the 1st round. Since my favorite corner Kareem Jackson, was selected by Houston, that left me with Price. I love the idea of a penetrating 3 technique DT on the field with Freeney and Mathis. I think our scheme is a little too limited without one. The opposition knows where the pressure is coming from and if they can shore up the edges and do quick 3 step drops, we have real problems, ala the Superbowl. Besides, BP once said that it is probably where you begin to build your defense. However, we have never had one and I don't see Maola as the answer albeit perhaps a good role player. Finally, I think if the brass challenged HOW they approach WHAT we do, I think this team could be unstoppable. In other words, if you want 3 pass rushers on the field at the same time, why not have a really good full time DT that pressures the passer instead of 3 DE's on the field occassionally? Don't get me wrong. I'm pulling for each draft pick to help the team but I'm just curious are they any other favorites out there besides Charles Brown? BTW, I would have really loved Javid Best in our trips formation as a home run threat with DB in the backfield....WOW! Of course there are others throughout the later rounds but I want to hear who you really wanted in the 1st round where we really had a chance to snag him. Can't wait til camp.

Just a couple this year...
Not a lot of complaints this year. My #1 overall hope for the team was Jerry Hughes, and he miraculously fell to us at #31. Pat Angerer was my favorite Colt-style LB in the draft, though I never imagined we’d hit the position that early in the draft. In addition, my two favorite undrafted players immediately following the draft were signed by the Colts (Andrew Tyshovnytsky and Mike Newton). I’m also a big Ray Fisher fan.
The main player I regret not getting is Alterran Verner, DB, UCLA. I thought he fit perfectly into the system as the new style of CB – primarily a cover guy, but also a good form tackler who will lend a hand in run support. (Not physical tacklers, but very SURE tacklers.) Plus, Verner’s a solid and smart individual. I hate to retrodict, but Verner would have been a much better selection than Thomas. He was available at our 3rd round pick, and I wish we had taken him.
The other guy I would have liked was Hunter Lawrence, PK, Texas. He was clutch in college, and it would feel nice to have a successor to Vini, who hasn’t given the Colts his best years. Lawrence went indrafted, I believe. I also had some OGs I liked (Lavao, Beadles, and Asamoa), but they were all gone by our 3rd round pick, and I LOVE McClendon (who wasn’t on my radar at all during the draft). Overall, fewer regrets this year than any prior draft.
I like that
Verner seems like a player. Who picked him up and what round? What can you tell me about Andrew T. I don’t see anything out there.
I can't help myself,
I would love to have seen what the Colts would have done with Tim Tebow.
"You can't defend the perfect throw, what can I say?" Peyton quoting Marino
"As I grow older, the list of people who can kiss my ass grows longer"-Ancient Hoosier Proverb.
As a Penn State fan,
I would have loved to see them get Sean Lee or Jared Odrick.
And so we land, only to find
We never left the ground...
Well, if we're talking QBs, my prime choice (pun intended) was for COLT McCoy
of the Longhorns. What a great name!
Jason Fox
Almost made it to us in the 4th round, but I would glady have taken him over Kevin Thomas in the 3rd. The fact that we didn’t address the LT position is a major concern.
Reshad Jones going one pick after us in the 5th would have been a nice pick up, but I like the Eldridge pick so I won’t complain too much.
