New rule could affect ( HURT ) hurry-up offenses

Alex Marvez

“A team that runs the hurry-up offense outside two minutes is going to be a challenge,” Johnson said. “It will take a little longer to get the football down. The (NFL’s) competition committee is aware of this. The reason we did this was safety, not to slow down any offenses.”

Spagnuolo believes quarterbacks who frequently run no-huddle attacks such as IndianapolisPeyton Manning and New England’s Tom Brady won’t be greatly affected because they usually “sit and try to see what you’re doing (defensively)” before making their calls and running the play. But teams who want to catch a defense off-guard with a quick snap at specific times, such as a short-yardage situation, may find it more difficult to execute. Defenses also should be able to substitute more easily if there are delays in spotting the football.

+++++  “It’s the fast (offenses) that are trying to beat the defenses that will have the issues,” Spagnuolo said.

LIKE WHEN MANNING WANTS TO CATCH DEFENSE WITH 12 PLAYERS ON FIELD WILL NOW BE HARDER AS DELAY WILL ALOW TEAMS MORE TIME TO GET OFF FIELD IF READING ENTIRE ARICLE COREECTLY

This year

will be the only year I really see that this could be a problem. Again, this will impact the teams that don’t typically run the 2 min offense on a regular basis.

The Colts, Patriots, Saints, and to some degree, the Vikings….all run a 2 min offense as part of their normal routine anyhow… so this should not impact them much at all..

another point

AS article says they hope to work out kinks in preseason,

Well they make changes evvery year and always hope they want to work out kinks in preseason games, another reason not to delete 2 preseason games in order to exrend sesons length

Agree in most situations save for exception i noted , Peyton loves to quick snap & catch team with 12 men on field or occassionally run a quick play if the other team not set , now as will take longer to spot ball , defense has extra time to sub & get set so can affect us at some strategic times

Why did they decide to do this?

And how does it relate to “player saftey”? So they’ll be tired. Big Whoop. You’re getting paid millions of $ to play football. God forbid you should be tired.

Refs Safety

F*** this, if the refs aren’t in shape enough to keep up with the flow of the game then they to need to attend a training camp.
HURT has been around for a few years now and they are just now coming out with this BS, maybe they need to do like the teams do, that is if you’re to old to play the game then bye bye.

How could Polian allow this to happen?

I thought he was on the competition committee?

Not sure if the question is serious

but the answer is that it’s a committee, not a dictatorship.

How can you not love a team that does this?

NOW

that is why BB should be on the competition committee because it just so happens he is king of the universe and this would have never happened. Which would be good for both of our offenses

BANNED for reply fail and Pat loving...

/heh

Agreed. There have been some great QB duels through the years; none of them better than what we’re witnessing right now.
