Colts again waive Donye' McCleskey, sign Terrell Skinner UPDATE
I kind of feel a little sorry for Donye' McCleskey. He was signed as a rookie free agent immediately after the draft only to get cut just prior to training camp. He was then re-signed two days ago after the team waived David Caldwell. Today, he was cut AGAIN, and the Colts used his roster spot to sign former Vikings corner Terrell Skinner.
Skinner played his college ball at Maryland where he made 67 tackles and emerged as a leader for the Terps defense. At 6'3, 214 pounds, he is one big body at safety. He also has a 36' vertical leap. Gonna go out on the limb here... I think he can dunk a basketball.
Skinner last tried out for the Eagles on Aug. 15th. He was initially recruited to Maryland as a wide receiver. He was selected to play in the Senior Bowl this past year. Skinner went undrafted in the 2010 NFL Draft, but was signed by the Vikings as a collegiate free agent.
The Colts also placed Jamie Silva on IR. He tore his ACL against the 49ers in the preseason opener.
[UPDATE]: McClesky was placed on the waived-injured list. This means if no one claims him, he goes to IR.

6'3", 214lbs??!! Holy...

He’s too light to play linebacker, but he’s pretty durn big for a defensive back. Damn…

I don't know. But if he was, then I think he was outsized too.
You know something? This just occured to me: I only now realized that I figured safeties would be like most other DBs: Not quite 6’ tall, under 200 lbs, etc. Thing is, I only presumed this; I never actually looked to see if I was right or not. At some point, I think I need to go look up some safeties and get a rough sense of what the mean actually is for their general heights and masses.
∗Sigh∗… this fandom thing’s really starting to take up a lot of my time… ;)

safety heigh weight
I play madden alot so I get to see alot of these attributes on players and the typical safety is going to range from 5’11" – 6’1" 195-210"
Although their are some really big guys out there too….
Taylor Mays 6’3" 235lbs.
Patrick Watkins 6’5" 230lbs.
Adrian Wilson 6’3" 230lbs.

I'm more impressed that he can jump 36 feet.
Anonymity breeds inhumanity. In simpler terms, don't be a troll.
Ha! Nice catch.
Maybe the Pacers will sign him if the Colts cut him.
