Former Colts Back-Up QB Jim Sorgi To IR, Again

EAST RUTHERFORD NJ - AUGUST 16: Jim Sorgi #19 of the New York Giants drops back to pass in the first quarter during their game against the New York Jets at New Meadowlands Stadium on August 16 2010 in East Rutherford New Jersey. (Photo by Nick Laham/Getty Images)

This might be it for The Sorginator. Jim Sorgi, one-time back-up quarterback for the Colts has been placed on IR for the second time in two years. In both instances, it has been a shoulder problem. This might be the same shoulder that has bugged Sorgi since 2006.

Sorgi signed with the Giants this off-season to back-up Peyton Manning's younger brother, Eli Manning. Now, it looks like the NFL career for this former Maytag spokesman could be done.

I feel bad for him

Even though he wasn’t a Colt anymore I was really hoping for the best for him. I hope he recovers completely. What is so frustrating is that he has the smarts-but he seems to made of paper mâché.

Guess who my favorite team is...

Very well said

Sorgi to me was always going to be a clipboard holder here in Indy. We were never seriously going to rely on him, and we were never serious about him being our backup. That being said, he was always a class act here and always did what we asked him to while not throwing a hissy fit.

You hate to see any guy get hurt (with the very rare exception of idiot trash) but this sucks for a guy like Sorgi..

Manning Bowl 2010

Sorgi can limp out there and do the Super Bowl coin flip.

That really sucks for Sorgi

And he played really well too in the Giant’s preseason game. My son is a Giants fan and was excited once he saw how well he did.

Now they are stuck with Romer? Ouch.

it seems to me a lot of the players released by the Colts ended up on IR...

some fan has mentioned it earlier…. now we have to add Sorgi to that list…
Poor poor Sorgi…. yeah, I do think he is a class act and a good guy…. and his baby boy is cutteeeeee…. wish him and his family the best….

Painter is the reason why I miss Sorgi

It was quite humorous for me to see Jim Sorgi backing up the younger Manning after spending years backing up the older Manning, but seeing how much Painter really sucks, I’ve never realized how much I would miss Sorgi. I guess its true when they say "You never know what you got ’til its gone. Godspeed Jimmy
