Colts Center Jeff Saturday Returns To Practice, Not Expected To Play Against Bengals

Though Coltinsider finds SB Nation's minimum word count annoying when posting a FanPost, we thank him (or her) for alerting us to the news that Jeff Saturday returned to practice today for the Colts. Saturday has been out since having arthroscopic surgery on his knee to remove 'a loose body' back on August 11th.

Obviously, this is encouraging news for a club that is decimated along its offensive line because of injuries.

Saturday is not expected to play in the Colts' fourth and final preseason game against the Bengals this Thursday.

Yeah!

Now if we only had a clue to CJ’s status (besides the “I can tell you they’re getting better”).

With CJ, Jeff, and probably Ugoh not playing Thursday I feel pretty bad for Painter and Brandy.

That's what I'm talking about!

I wouldn’t force CJ back early, it’s better to survive without him against the Texans and have him healthier and more ready for (I hope) the whole season

GO COLTS!

This is GREAT news

I don’t care how limited his work was today… at least there was something! Don’t rush, Jeff!!!

How can you not love a team that does this?

Huge!

I can deal with Ugoh at LT till CJ comes back. I can help but think our running game will have a little more pop with our OL healthy. We know the pass protection will be there.

Saturday coming back

is a huge psychological lift to this team. On a different note, I just read on NFL.com that the ‘snap’ rule has been tweaked. From now on, the umpire only has to be behind the offensive player who is the farthest back. And, the QB will not have to turn around to look at the umpire; instead an official on the sidelines will be good enough. Will this be enough to keep the Colts offensive shredder cooking along as expected? Hope so.

They were tweaked today

from what I read, so they couldn’t have been in place in the Green Bay game.

I take it

You didn’t watch the game

I watched the first half.

That was about all I could stomach. I wasn’t paying all that much attention to the umpire placement rule. So, maybe I’m wrong. But, NFL.com and the New York Times reports today that the competition committee had a conference call and tweaked things to what I wrote above.

I'm pretty sure Mr. Junk is right.

Those are the same rules.

Yes, they supposedly tweaked things again,

but not the umpire placement, that was tweaked after the HoF game.

You have to read the article carefully because it really doesn’t say what the memo to the teams said, just that it was being sent Tuesday. Then it goes on to recap the tweaks they already made.

So, we’re not really sure what else they tweaked. They said umpires will be more athletic and faster. Sounds like that’s not going to happen overnight. They’re also letting just about any official place the ball too.

I *HATE* it when that happens!

… And what I hate even more is when my friends stage an “intervention” saying things like “Dude… guys don’t wear high heels… or summer dresses…”. I mean, is it my life to live or not??
