Kevin Faulk Has Torn ACL - Updated
Shalise Manza Young of Boston.com is reporting that Patriots RB and 3rd down specialist Kevin Faulk suffered a torn ACL against the Jets on Sunday. If confirmed, this will end his season, and maybe his career.
I front-page this because of the long-standing rivalry between the Pats and Colts, and because Faulk has been an outstanding player and - by all accounts - a good person off the field. Colts fans will remember him fondly for last year's 4th-and-2, but he should also be respected as a competitor.

His career is probably over
if they have a ring of honor, he better make it. That guy was gold for them.
Too easy to dismiss them now with all those key injuries, but I just don’t see them winning 12 this season (which might include 11 reg season and 1 playoff win).
I hate Joe Namath. That's how long I've been a Colts fan.
Yes, he was gold for them.
Which means I don’t have pleasant memories of him.
yeah, he'll make it into the Patriots Hall of Fame easily
but man, I was hoping it wouldn’t be quite this fast and that he’d be able to go out on his own terms – not at the hands of a freakin’ Jet. He’s that rare type of player that’s just not easily replaceable – smart, athletic and instinctive. Pats and fans will miss him for sure. (I swear he made that first down by the way, damn home-field refs, lol)
Keep the faith!
Bottom-Line: Faulks' can catch the ball out of the backfield.
He was such a great player for a long, long time.
I detailed last year how the Pats essentially became the 2003-2004 Colts the past three years, but other than obviously Brady, the one true link on offense to their dynasty was Faulk. Class player, and by all accounts, class guy.

Not by ALL accounts
I once saw him take 16 items through the 15-item express line at the supermarket….. bastard.

It's always sad to see a great player end his career injured.
We went through this with Marvin, only he tried to come back, and we ended up wishing he hadn’t.

Bet they are thinking
that Maroney trade wasn’t such a good idea after all. Fred Taylor and Sammy Morris are too old to really carry the load for them
Our heads may be bloody, but they are unbowed. We will be back next year better than ever!

I really, really hope
if they bring up James, he doesn’t turn out to be a stud and ends up running for 100+ yards against us in November. I would haz the biggest sad EVAR

Maroney would never be a replacement for Faulk
even if he were still on the team, but he would add a pair of healthy legs.
Keep the faith!
DISASTER
How are we going to know who to cover on 3rd down?

Kevin Faulk
is one of the primary reasons why the Patriots were such a dominating force for several years. More so than Brady, he set the tone on how the games would unfold. Both Faulk and Vinatieri were more to that team’s success than a lot of people realize.
I truly wish him the best, but at his age, and that injury, I’d wager he’s done for good. I’d love to see him on the sideline coaching though, because the guy was all heart.
Two Plays
The two Faulk plays which stick out the most are the tipped ball/INT which ended the 2006 game and the 4th and 2. I’m sure he killed us on more than a few screens, though, which immediately don’t come to mind.

Faulk Is the Troy Brown of Pats RB's
We’re obviously all Colts fans but Faulk is a hell of a player and a core Pat. One of those guys that you love if he’s on your team. Think Dominic Rhodes with a bit more ability and longevity. Does all the little things right, has the complete trust of the QB and coaching staff. At his age as an RB, that may be it but you never know. Hell of a player, I still remember him making crucial plays in the “Super Bowl 41 and half” game (which despite the loss was still worth a 2 hour flight to Indy for). Anyways, I would love for him to not play against the Colts anymore but would hate for it to be due to an injury.
Super Bowl 41.5
Amazing that neither team actually, you know, one the Super Bowl that year. That was really the one that got away.

Well, as much as I despise the Pats,
I hate to see or hear about something like that. If we have the chance to play them in the playoffs, i’d rather beat them at 100 percent. Good luck and a speedy recovery for Faulk. Class act.
If Russia attacked Turkey from the rear, Do you think Greece would help?
Faulk
He’s the one Pat player I’d love to have seen wearing a horsehoe. Hope he makes a full recovery.

Me too. Great player.
But he’s had a long career (11 years?), much longer than most RBs.
Addai and Faulk are said to be
Close friends. I have always been a Kevin fault fan. Like Joe addai, he does it all from pass blocking to power running. Wish him good luck

Faulk was one of those players
who I couldn’t stand (due to team affiliation), but only because I had so much respect for what he could do. This guy was a Colt killer for sure, and always seemed to play great against us. He will go down in my book as one of the most underrated players, if not THE most, of the past two decades. He always kind of flew under the radar of every pats team he played on it seems, but he never complained and always delivered. I will not miss him beating up on the colts, but it is unfortunate to see any player of his caliber to end a career on terms of an injury. I wish him nothing but the best and have always admired his play.

Darn, we're a bunch of nice, rational, reasonable, pleasant, sportsmanshippy Colt fans
I, for one, hope he plummets into the slavering jaws of a Sarlac (note to self: sift through kids Star Wars books to make sure that reference checks out….) Or a Rancor. Yeah, Rancors are wicked mean… big teeth and claws, bad BO.
And if he is NOT cast in some B-grade Star Wars remake as Luke Passcatcher, well then, a nice career as a coach would be good too.
I hate Joe Namath. That's how long I've been a Colts fan.
Rec that
It is never just football between Colts and Pats, its war. I hope he’s back next season, but wouldn’t count on it. Screw sportsmanship, I was rooting for Brees to go down yesterday. :D (And I’m sure 90% of the Colts fans were fantasizing about that too)

then count me among the 10%
I like to beat teams at their full strength – no excuses
How can you not love a team that does this?
Me too LovinBlue!!
I am never happy to see injuries. Faulk is a great player. I hated him, but loved watching him. I feel the exact same way about Welker. Anyway, I hope Faulk makes a full recovery!

I don't know
Cause the couple of people I know who had jumped on the Saints bandwagon last year were quite glad that Freeney didn’t play the entire game. Before the SB they wouldn’t even bet dinner without knowing Freeney’s status. So can I consider that the Saints didn’t really beat the Colts, but injuries and stone-hands beat them? I hope that will fly with the Inverted Banana followers.
