yet another roster prediction
Just to go on record, here's who I expect to make the 53-man roster:
QB: Peyton / Painter/ Brandstater (gameday inactive) 3
RB: Addai / The Donald / Hart / Devin Moore 4
WR: Wayne / Garcon / Collie / Gonzo / Blair White 5
TE: Clark / Gijon / Tamme / Brody 4
C/G: Saturday / Richard / Devan / Pollack / McClendon 5
T: Charlie / Diem / Ugoh / Linkenbach 4
OFF = 25
DT: Mookie / Muir / Foster / Dawson / Moala 5
DE: Freeney / Mathis / Chick / Baldwin / Hughes 5
ILB: Brackett / Angerer 2
OLB: Session / Wheeler / Humber / Kavell 4
CB: Hayden / Powers / Lacey / Townsend / Fisher 5
S: Bethea / Sanders / Bullitt / Newton 4
DEF = 25
K/P/LS: Vinatieri / McAfee / Snow 3
Just-missed PS targets: Brandon James, Favorite, Ricardo, Mitch King, Vuna, Adrian Martinez
Bubble vets in most danger of getting cut next: Dawson, Gijon, Hart
Cut guys who had some tenure with the team: Jamie Thomas, Lambert, Taj, Giguere, Cody Glenn, and Cloherty.
“Only” 5 undrafted rookie free agents make the team, compared to 8 each of the past three years, and 2 each of the three years prior to that. So just moderate “unanticipated” turnover this year.
I feel pretty blah about the fourth safety. Whoever plays the best special teams out of Skinner, Hall, and Newton should have the job. I don’t really care because we have the best 3-deep cadre of safeties in the league.
Fisher is the new TJ Rushing and handles KOs. Devin Moore will handle punts.
The departing Adam Terry gets door prize for wildest beard since Jake Scott.
I noticed Angerer led the entire league in tackles this preseason. Blair White was about 5th in receiving yards. We only had one INT in four games though, which is pretty disappointing

you're probably right -- I'm overly sentimental about old stalwarts
kinda like i’m still clinging to the idea that gijon and hart make it

I like this 53
You don’t think Key Dawson gets beat out? Baldwin looked alright.
"We ARE going to our own private island, Chris: it's called the State Fucking Fair!"
i guess i'll relent on Keyunta Dawson (sniff!)
I guess gimme Ricardo Matthews over Mitch King and Marlon Favorite, then.

I thought Dawson played great last year.
It took some wise guys on this site telling me I was wrong for me to see the light

This 53 is OK with me.
I liked Tom Brandstater this preseason, last night against the Bengals he showed me and mostly everyone else he deserves to backup Manning instead of Painter.
I’ll love to see Addai/Brown coming up as a fierce RB tandem, OL permitting
The Wide Receiver corps looks great this year, plus with Caldwell trying 4WR spread sets, I can see Manning breaking Brady’s TDs in a season record easily. Im stoked to see what Garcon and Collie will do this season because of their success last year, plus Blair White looks like a capable addition to the receiving arsenal Manning has at his disposal
OL has been one of my biggest concerns by far this upcoming season, can they open up lanes for Addai and Brown to run through as well protect Manning long enough to find the open WR?
My other concern was defense, Hayden and Powers might emerged as a underrated CB tandem, Powers played extremely well (along with Lacey) last season, going against many elite 1st Rounder WRs but his injuries might take a slight toll on him, but with Jackson gone, I can’t think of a more suitable player as a replacement
the Linebackers (excluding Brackett and possibly Angerer) was always the biggest flaw, when they had Cato June it was like having three Safeties on the field cause he can cover alot of ground at the LB spot, Keiaho was like our very own Ray Lewis with his aggressiveness but played with a degree of conservative instincts, Brackett is just amazing plain in simple, Ramon Humber just sucks (cut him please Polian) Tyjuan Hagler was great as far as Special Teams but as a starter, he seemed lost and out of place. Vuna Tahuimalaka (sp?) has that great closing speed that many LBs in the league lack today. Wheeler and Session play remarkably well last season, I have great faith in Wheeler but Session seems to overrun alot of plays.
The Safety spot never was a concern to me since the 2006 season, Bethea has showed tremendously great ball-hawk skills in the previous seasons. If Sanders can play atleast 10-12 games a season would be great joy and less pressure off the defense, Melvin Bullitt is one underrated safety, he can make mental mistakes at times but his a great backup. I had high hopes of seeing Jamie Silva in action at some time in the season but I was sadden to hear about his injury and being placed on IR.
I have great hopes for the Colts and my prediction for their final record is 14-2 or 13-3, with a wide receiver corps stronger than the 2004 season with an seemingly improved defense; Super Bowl 45 is in our favor.
my reply below about Humber was intended for you, 504. I failed to link it to your post.
Hopefully Deshea Townsend will bolster the CB corps both physically and by dint of his experience.

really, you don't like Humber?
I thought he’s been solid last preseason and this one, and he was a major special teams contributor last year. I think the LB are as deep as they’ve ever been.
OL is a concern of mine too. I wrote elsewhere that it’s going to come down to coaching — improvement here on out is going to be up to Pete Metzelaars and Ron Prince.
I think they keep Brandstater, but if they don’t, they’ll need a third arm on the practice squad just so Peyton and Painter don’t get overworked during the week.

Looks good,
missed on Fisher, obviously. I think most people did, though. Our decent CB depth is Hayden, Powers, Lacey and Hayden has looked so-so and Powers has been out with injury at least one game. The release of Fisher has to mean they will grab a free agent CB after cuts are made.
or keep king or lambert

True
I don’t remember them being that productive, though. Didn’t Lambert get burned for the long TD against whoever we just played?

yeah they both sucked IMO
we just got Tryon from the Skins so king and lambert are probably next on the chopping block

also screwed up brandstater, and I'm sure there are more whiffs to come

by my count i had 47/53, which is like a B+
but if you figure there were really only 10-12 positions open realistically, i only hit on about half of them. So I’m flunking myself. “That sucked. I didn’t predict diddly-poo out there.”
My main impression is that the Colts had very selective turnover this year.
The 12 new faces blood consists of 6 draft picks (all but Fisher made it), “only” 2 undrafted free agents (Linkenbach and Brandon King), three young veterans (Mitch King, Devin Moore, and Justin Tryon), and one seasoned vet (Deshea).
