Colts Release Adam Terry And Marlon Favorite

As LovinBlue touched on in the article announcing Ray Fisher's release, the Colts have cut offensive tackle Adam Terry along with defensive tackle Marlon Favorite. The Indianapolis Star is also reporting that the Colts might re-sign Terry after Week One in order to retain the veteran tackle as depth. If Terry is re-signed after Week One, his contract is not guaranteed.

Why the Colts would want to bring back Terry, even as for depth, is a mystery. He was awful in training camp and preseason playing both right tackle and left tackle. He is pretty clearly bothered by a chronic knee injury, which is affecting his ability to block.

I'm kind of bummed about both the Fisher and Favorite cuts. I thought they played well enough to make the active roster. Oh well.

I tend to agree.

I’m going to be a little pissed if the Colts cut someone with potential and room to develop in favor of re-signing Terry, who is a very limited player. This has to speak to their fears of C. Johnson’s health, though, and the general lack of depth at RT (there is none beyond Ryan Diem.)

This is what happens when you manage the OL poorly in the offseason. You have to keep guys like Terry, at some point at least. I wonder if they’ll keep an extra OL they otherwise wouldn’t have kept for week one, and then cut that guy in favor of Terry. Or if they’ll cut a non-related position in favor. Either way, you can’t feel great for the 52nd and 53rd guys making this roster, given this development and looming waiver wire transactions.

Last year Ugoh backed up both OT spots.

Charlie played RT too (in first SB) and with Linkenbach probably making the roster, he will start working at RT too if he hasn’t already.

No Credit?

Come on BBS, LB never mentioned Favorite and didn’t reference that article. I did.

Fisher was crap

Still better than Terry, mind.

I liked Favorite, but I don’t think he’s got enough talent to play in the NFL.

Anyone think

this is someone they’d re-sign in case Fili is suspended for his DUI?

PS

for Fisher and Favorite.

Terry is evidently been injured for a while.

Further, considering the Colts O-Line depth, it is no wonder that bodies are at premium. I wouldn’t be surprised to see random FA’s join at this point, though, either.

53% of statistics are made up on the spot.

Good moves

I am not surprised at any of these moves. Fisher, Terry and Marlon Favorite all got lost in the preseason and never recovered. Several more cuts ahead.
