I think I speak for everyone here when I say, “WTF?!”

It's an ERROR!

Well... i guess it was just premature.
Crap! I can’t believe they let him go. Hope they know what they’re doing.

WTF?? indeed
they are keeping frigging injured Taj Smith over White?? the only reason I thought the colts released Brandon James was to keep white in the 53,, but now IDK i cant think clearly right now i need a tequila shot asap
this is bad
i dont know if we can win the super bowl without blair white……oh wait
i like the kid too and was trooting for him but we will be fine with or without blair white
EPIC FAIL
Our heads may be bloody, but they are unbowed. We will be back next year better than ever!
Indianapolis Colts News and Updates
Why does everyone assume they're keeping Taj?
He probably goes on IR.
his injury
is a partial tear…thats not IR material. he’ll be out 5 weeks at most

They can IR a guy for a hangnail
if he agrees to it.
why would he
end his own season rather then get cut and possibly picked up by someone else?

R U Serious?
He could have been picked up by someone else the last two year while he was on the PS. Trust me, between his injury and his preseason, he’s not on anyone’s hot list.
Time of posting
The time of that posting has Adam Terry. Ray Fisher and Marlon Favorite were released at the same time.
No other website has reported it. Makes me really wonder, I will wait for colts.com or the star website to confirm it. Maybe BBS can e-mail his Star contacts to find out the scoop. I can understand the Blair White cut if Brandon James was retained. Not keeping both is a head scratcher to me.
terrible cut
White deserved to make it and he isn’t stupid enough to get a DWI like Taj and he catches everything, unlike Taj.
If that's true...
The Colts are only keeping four WRs to begin the year, then, because no way the Colts keep Taj Smith on the roster and injured for nearly half a season. Interesting move. Other positions (cough OL cough) must be more banged up than we realize.

we started with 4 WR and 4 TE last year; then gonzo got hurt, & we added Baskett.
"To be a great football coach, you have to be smart enough to do it well, and dumb enough to think it's important." -- Can't remember whom I am paraphrasing.
This is why I thought they were going to keep 5 wr this time
finding reliable hands during the season is not that easy
Giguere ended up on the active roster later
Once Garcon got banged up, Giguere got on the active roster as well. We ended up with 5 WRs but then the 4th WR saw playing time during breather situations (Baskett) and dropped balls to stall drives.
Giguere was promoted the very last week of the regular season. That's it!
He played the meaningless game in Buffalo, but was then inactive for the post-season. Clearly when they’ve got these kind of quality WRs they eschew quantity.

So you're saying there's a chance we get Baskett again instead of White?
Fuck Yeah! You know what they say about insanity?

this
and it is not about we need him right now.. but injuries happen and pretty fast ask gonzo.. when you find a talent that has a strong work ethic and great hands to add to the mix you just dont let it go.. I hope no other team show interest .. but with the over 100 yards game the other day i bet some teams already speaking of grabbing him.. :(
Rumor
Bengals want Reggie Nelson.

They can have him
I just want the Colts to hold onto Blair White
by metal_militia on Sep 4, 2010 6:15 PM EDT up reply actions
Reggie Wayne likes it
Some more TDs for Wayne then, he is on my fantasy team :-). He loves burning Reggie Nelson.
Im leaning towards that this was a typo
here in http://www.nfl.com/transactions?transactionMonth=9&transactionYear=2010&transactionTeamAbbr=IND&prevTransactionTeamAbbr=&prevTransactionMonth=9&prevTransactionYear=2010 the one listed as cut along Terry is Fisher
look at all the wr's getting cut
i bet they go pick up somebody….i read somewhere we are interested in james hardy
I think it might be possible they meant to say Sam Gigure was cut. Not Blair White
If Russia attacked Turkey from the rear, Do you think Greece would help?
good
i am glad its an error…..all sarcasam i side i like blair white a lot and am looking forward to him making the squad and shining ………
YELL! SCREAM! GO HORSE!
An Error????
Does this mean the panic will stop? Please say it ain’t so!
If he makes the squad, what’s the over/under for number of weeks he’s inactive? I’ll say 11.
Dude, you seem to be missing the big picture...
It’s not this year White makes his mark… it’s over the next 10. The guy is that good.

I got the big picture
but so far I’m not seeing ‘star’. I’m seeing pretty good possession receiver. Was he impressive against 2’s and 3’s, maybe somewhat.
I watched all the preseason games, did I miss something?
nah... you're right.
he’ll never amount to anything.
Careful what you wish for... "A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have." Gerald Ford, 38th US president
but you want as much depth as possible
plus the guy is young

Speaking of
Eagles kept him.

hope they dont plan on
recovering onside kicks…..just sayin

Okay, now that scares me
He’s on a roster and Housh is a FA?
I was rooting against the Eagles since they released McNabb
Now they’re keeping Baskett… Damn I really hope they go under .500 this season
Long live rock 'n' roll, and r.i.p. Dio
exactly
I mean if you cut White, who do you have behind your top four? Why would anyone want an inconsistent injured Taj smith or non productive Sam Giguire. You already got rid of Brandon James. In the NFL, you need as much quality depth as possible and of all the receivers the Colts had in camp that werent the top 4, White stood out
by metal_militia on Sep 4, 2010 7:12 PM EDT up reply actions
You can't argue with that statement
I’m just saying he may not be as special a people are making him out to be.
A few months ago some people were saying Guice was the second coming based on his workout tape. White had some great games against guys who probably aren’t in the league today.
He may be the next Stokely, but until he plays against the 1’s, I’ll reserve judgement.
the next Stokley is here
Austin Collie? You might have heard of him…
Our heads may be bloody, but they are unbowed. We will be back next year better than ever!
Indianapolis Colts News and Updates
Is that a question or a statement?
to paraphrase…
“I knew Brandon Stokley. Brandon Stokley was a friend of mine. Austin Collie is no Brandon Stokley.”
Agree
Stokley had an explosion after the catch that I have not seen out of any slot WRs we have used except maybe Gonzo, and that includes Collie.
Production wise, Collie might end up being better because he can block for screens and running plays better than Stokely or Gonzo from what I see and hence will be on the field for more plays, and thus will have more targets over a period of time, IMO.
Actually no one thought White was the second coming
but based on the film on White, his work ethic, and consistency in the preseason, he looks like a player who is a capable fill in in case of injury. He certainly isn’t an Aaron Moorehead or Craphonzo Thorpe.

only bad thing is
his speed. And you can’t teach speed. His hands and route running are golden though

Indianapolis Colts News and Updates
Jerry Rice and Larry Fitzgerald
Larry Fitzgerald has a 4.5 or 4.55 timed 40 but he has great strength, game speed and hands. Jerry Rice’s timed 40, I could not find but I don’t think it was too fast either.
Good hands, route running and natural WR acumen can make up for lack of speed. Collie is not that much faster than Blair White, FYI.
If the Colts keep Blair White, with Wayne’s contract being re-done, if they ever get into a situation where they need someone for trade bait for a position of bigger need, guess where they will dip into, their WR corp somewhere, just a hunch.
That is just down the road
I was just speculating down the road, not this year. I do not think the quality of DL or LB or TE (maybe next position that will be deep possibly if Eldridge materializes) or S or CB is as good as the quality & depth of the WR corp will be if Blair White is retained, IMO.
I've read this over and over...
I don’t agree about the speed argument. The guy ran 30 some odd yards after the catch from the Bengals secondary before he was track down. Addai was tracked down too. Both guys were timed in the 4.4 range before their respective drafts. If the guy was “slow” he wouldn’t run that far. I think he looks slow because he takes long strides. Word class speed? Devin Hester? No. But good speed? I think so.
I just think
that catch against the Bengals should have been a TD…he looked very slow

Indianapolis Colts News and Updates
We are not talking Greg Jennings or Donald Driver
Game speed should improve over time, IMO. Besides, Collie who is not much faster than White could have been caught just a few yards later. Besides, we are not talking Greg Jennings or Donald Driver in the slot.
And... I think...
Only Garçon or Gonzalez would have had a real chance to taking it for a touchdown on this team. And relatively speaking, few NFL wide receivers do. There only so many WRs in the entire league that flat out run away 60 yards for a touchdown with one or two steps on guys in the secondary.
Ask Bill Polian
I’m still waiting on it myself. :)

not really a depth chart we have going
but its a nice outline of every player, if they made the roster or not, and the source providing the info that they got cut

He's there... but you can't see him because I was in "waiting mode"
I’ll just add him and wait for the rest
It's updated now...
I was suspecting an announcement any moment… so if I die of some bladder disease, I blame Brad. Completely.

WTHR reported that they cut Giguere,
(or, as they spelled it, “Gugiere”)
but that was just on their TV broadcast, so I don’t know their source.
…and the cut isn’t exactly surprising.
They mentioned that their source is IndyStar

Michigan State Fan Here
Glad to see Blair White has definitely made a mark in Indianapolis whether he makes the roster or not. He’ll work his tail off everyday in practice and never be a problem in terms of character on or off the field.
Thanks, sparto.
There are several of us here really high on Blair. He’s not been named to the roster just yet, but the team just cut one of his major competitors and the other is injured. So there’s a good chance he’ll make the roster.
Go State!
