Ugghh
They already know the roster. Why can’t they just tell us already.

So you’ll keep refreshing the Colts.com page until it shows up, thus getting them more advertising revenue.
After all, Jim Irsay needs all the extra capital he can find to fund Manning’s upcoming blockbuster contract! :)

maybe they're busy... you know... on the phone?

14 Cuts?
By my count. I think we can safely name 10 of them.
I am wondering if the delay is "deal" related
But yes… Ashton Hall, Allen Patrick, Adrian Martinez, Taj Smith, Vuna Tuihalamaka, Glenn Sharpe, Danny Gorrer seem obvious to me. At least one of James Williams and Chris Marinelli (probably both). At least one of Terrail Lambert and Brandon King (probably both). Probably Terrell Skinner. One of Javarris James and Mike Hart.
Looks about right
and the last 2 or 3 better not unpack their bags right away either. We usually make a few moves from the waiver wire before the season starts.
I hope you’re right about the ‘deal related’ aspect. McNeill???? Naw, wishful thinking.

How can you not love a team that does this?

They seem to always be the last to announce final cuts.
I bet this year it has to do with being inundated with calls in regards to trading for Curtis Painter.
everybody wants him except every single Colts fan anywhere

I'm still laughing at what Chris Carter said about him

Per Chap
Players whose release has been confirmed by The Star include wide receivers Blair White, Taj Smith and Sam Giguere, defensive tackle Marlon Favorite, running back Javarris James, offensive linemen Adam Terry and James Williams, defensive ends John Chick and Ervin Baldwin, linebacker Vuna Tuihalamaka, tight end Colin Cloherty and defensive backs Danny Gorrer and Mike Newton.

Kind of shocked about Chick
didn’t they give him a pretty good bonus to show up to camp?
If I had to venture a guess....
They felt 3 smallish pass rushing ends was enough and decided to go with some stouter DEs.

Has anyone seen anything about hank baskett?
I’m hoping hes been cut. Into pieces.
Hank Baskett IS A WANKER
I just took a peek at the Colts' IR list
there are 8 players on it, but 6 are DB’s. Hemby and McClesky put on it today.
Makes sense why they traded for a DB today, hurtin’ for depth.

Dawson can't make this roster, can he?
Maybe they’re going to bring Raheem back.
He probably will
OMG, Gijon Robinson and Keyunta Dawson will both end up making this roster, much to the chagrin of Colts fans :-)
DAWSOOOOON
That’ll be two years in a row he’s edged out my favorite pass rushers so that he can do nothing on the bench.

I can’t even think of any new on-the-bubble pickups who aren’t on this list. I guess they’re valuing experience in the Colts’ system over youth & potential. I’m not a huge fan, but hey, I guess this has worked for them in the past. Here’s to hoping White, James, Favorite, Chick, etc. can clear waivers and make it to the PS!

As far as new players to the roster those would be.....
CB Brandon King, CB Justin Tyron, CB Deshea Townsend, LB Kavell Conner, DE/DT Ricardo Matthews, DT Mitch King, DE Jerry Hughes, OT Jeff Linkenbach, RB Devin Moore, and TE Brody Eldridge.
"I found that if you have a goal, that you might not reach it. But if you don't have one, then you are never disappointed. And I gotta tell ya... it feels phenomenal."- Peter La Fleur
As far as my surprises as far as roster make up go....
10 D-linemen seems like a lot to keep as does 7 Linebackers. 6 CB’s and only 3 safeties and only 4 WR.
"I found that if you have a goal, that you might not reach it. But if you don't have one, then you are never disappointed. And I gotta tell ya... it feels phenomenal."- Peter La Fleur

Dawson over Chick is baffling
We’ll pick up a S on the waiver wire. Who gets dropped?
Mostly Brandon King
Brandon King most likely gets dropped
I wouldn't be surprised to see Matthews or Mitch King get dropped.
53% of statistics are made up on the spot.
Thin on safety
Very thin on safety, injuries on O-line forced them to go with 10, that would be my guess.
I cannot remember having 3 safeties and 10 O-linemen.
Bob Sanders must be healthy then (knock on wood).
that and WR
thats what worries me about the roster right now. They need at least one more player at both of those positions
Im very disappointed in the decision to keep Dawson and Robinson. they both have been awful thus far.

CJ is not healthy
I have a feeling CJ is not healthy and Ugoh will start against the Texans
It's a hell of team
how it is. It’ll get better tomorrow. I’m pretty shocked that so many guys I thought had a real shot got cut, but what the hell. It looks like a really strong 53. They passed on some amazing athletes, so you know they feel REAL good about the guys they kept.
Looks like they favored Defensive depth over offensive depth.

PS
Hopefully we’ll find out soon which of these guys that were cut made the practice squad

Is the waiver wire a 24 hour thing?
I know how the claims work, but never knew the exact timing. I assume it’s from xx o’clock to 24 hours later?
Interesting
No time frame given. If I recall, last year it seemed like we were signing guys to the PS a day after final cuts.
Does that sound right?
Not sure...
how long you have to be out on the wire before signing with on to a practice squad

colts final roster
i would think brandon king is next to go, when they find a safety they like.
I’m really disappointed guys like him made the initial 53-man roster instead of guys like Blair White. I’m sure they’re hoping they can sign him to the PS, but do they really think he’ll clear waivers from 31 other teams with inferior receiving corps? Tons of teams would likely love to sign him as a 3rd or 4th receiver. Consider me frustrated.
by strootster on Sep 4, 2010 9:58 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
CB depth is evidently more important at this point.
53% of statistics are made up on the spot.
Source? That'd be great news.
53% of statistics are made up on the spot.
My thoughts
Dawson not playing against Cincy should have been a sign that he was making it, I guess. Maybe teams called the Colts about him and they decided it was safer to expose Chick/Baldwin to waivers. We’ll never know in that case.
Maybe they’re figuring on doing a lot of 2 TE early in season with OL issues. Having the top 4 WR they have made quantity at the position expendible.
Obviously a safety move is coming. When there are only 3 and one is named Bob Sanders???? King could move possibly. He seemed slow for CB in games, but we know that that what sticks out in our eyes means nothing to Colt management. see Grady, Adrian
I actually like that Cody Glenn and a seventh LB made it. He Conner, Humber, and Angerer should make ST coverage units stronger than last year’s.
Lastly, it will be a fluid next 48 hours. Have to believe more moves coming.
Gotta agree.
Nice take on the situation.
