2010 NFL Roster Cuts: Former Colts Looking For Work
Without fail, on the day after teams are required to have their active rosters at 53 players, people are always interested in players who used to wear the horseshoe who were cut by other teams. Their interested perks up even more when the players still have something to offer. Below is a list of former Colts were were given pink slips yesterday by other teams. Some can still play in this league, and would offer an upgrade over players currently active on Indy's 53.
- Quinn Pitcock, cut by Seahawks
- Tyjuan Hagler, cut by Seahawks
- Darrell Reid, cut by Broncos
- Raheem Brock, cut by Titans
- Jamie Petrowski, cut by Panthers
- T.J. Rushing, cut by Lions
- Michael Toudouze, cut by Titans
Of this group, both Pitcock and Reid would add something to this team that is missing. Right now, Antonio Johnson has no back-up at DT. Pitcock played that position for Indy three years ago, before his addiction to Call of Duty forced him to quit football. Darrell Reid is a special teams ace. I'd love to have him back.
Other news: Brandon Stokley was not cut by the Broncos. He was placed on IR. I think Stoke's career is finished, or (at least) it should be.

former colts cut
Darrel Reid has a bad knee and was cut because he cant play thru it, cant make the club from the tub. Quinn Pitcock would never be trusted by coaches, management, and most importantly the players because of him quitting. I just dont see Hagler fitting in plus his M.O. is to be hurt about halfway into the season and do really need another guy who takes a roster spot and then has to go on IR? Petrowski? cmon. Same with Toudouze, Tennessee is where Colts go to retire and finish behind their former team in the standings. Of this list, Id say maybe Brock. Because of his versatility and his familiarity with the scheme. There is some reason why these guys didnt make the team. when it comes down to it the were not good enough in the eyes of the coaches and management who watched them practice and play.

Surprise, surprise...
Ha! Little surprise that TJ Rushing was cut. That the Colts retained him as long as they did was lunacy. I sincerely doubt TJ will find work in the NFL.
if you can't find work with the Lions...
…you simply can’t find work. Though, who was the player that couldn’t make the deplorable Lion’s defense a year ago and BP picked him up as a BIG find? Of course, that didn’t work out…
Hagler
I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Hagler brought back on. We don’t have anyone listed behind Wheeler at the moment. I’m not convinced that Hagler isn’t better than Wheeler anyway.
BBS also pointed out that Ko Simpson was released yesterday. I agree that this is a logical claim for the Cotls. We need more depth at Safety and he’s a solid fit.
I always liked Hagler.
Was just too bad he kept getting injured at inopportune times.
We already have 7 linebackers on the roster
I’m sure a couple of the backup linebackers could fill in for Wheeler.
Anyone who has a problem with Joseph should stop watching Colts football. It's unfair to expect a back to replace Edge, and Addai has been excellent in all areas when he is healthy.

agreed
Wheeler is the weakest link on our D. I wish Pat Angerer could be coached and utilized to play OLB. The line up of him, GB, and CS would be pretty filthy!

How can you not love a team that does this?

Guys who I think the Colts could look at from that list
Yes:
- Hagler; I wonder if the Colts weren’t taking a bit of a gamble not tendering him and seeing if he could be had on the cheap. The fact that he was cut from the Seahawks is not necessarily an indication of poor performance to me… seems like that team looked at EV-ER-Y-BO-DY, and at one point had 578 players on the team. How many times did we see tweets this offseason “[insert player name] released from [insert team name]; Seahawks interested”???
- Toudouze; ok maybe this is wishful thinking, and it’s not like he was a fantastic player (he wouldn’t have been let go, otherwise), but am I the only one who thinks the Colts’ biggest issue still resides along the O-Line?
- Giordano; good STer, fast, and could fill in at Safey if need be (and it has been pointed out that the Colts are thin with only 3 Safeties). Ok I admit there’s some Cal homerism going on here, so I’ll temper this one by saying he would be a late or mid-season addition.
No:
- Reid; loved the guy when he was with the Colts, disappointed that the team let him go, but he’s injured
-Pitcock; this would be like returning to an ex… too much baggage, sounds like bad feelings, the Colts need to move on
-Brock; also a bit of a break-up story. Also, I just don’t think this is a great area of need.
-Petrowski; the Colts are already pretty heavy at TE, and even if they bow to my bidding by releasing Robinson, they will still have plenty at this position
-Rushing; Rushing doesn’t add anything to the team at this point. I could potentially see him called upon later in the season to bolster ST should the unthinkable happen
How can you not love a team that does this?
disagreeing with you about TE
though not necessarily about Petrowski in particular.
The colts are carrying 4 TEs atm, 5 if you count Snow. I don’t consider that heavy when one of them is robinson.

on Hagler and the seahawks
i don’t trust anything coming from Pete Carroll. Maybe it’s my U$C bias.
speaking of which, has anyone seen TAC lately? or for like, the past few months?

Shane Andrus
don’t remember what team (49ers?) but he was cut also. I liked him while AV was injured.
I don't always drink beer....but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis.
Compensatory Picks shouldnt be affected
by former colts going the dole, having been made “redundant”
I’m not sure at all what makes someone a ‘qualifying free agent," but I don’t think the colts had any of those. Maybe it’s only restricted FAs. What colts from last year actually landed spots with teams? Lilja? But he was cut outright, so that wouldn’t count.
to the list of former Colts with woes, we can add Marlin Jackson. Didn’t he get placed on IR by the Eagles?

Special Teams at best
Some of the guys on the list were ST favorites.
Tyjuan Hagler: This is one guy the can avoid been blocked and gets to the ball carrier very quick.
T.J. Rushing: T.J. has the knack for letting his blockers open up the lane and just fly on through, the problem was, no lanes never opened up for him. I wonder why they never tried him on KR instead of just PR.
Darrell Reid: Has great speed for his size but lacks the signature attribute for a DL: Upper Body Strength.
Quinn Pitcock: N/A, no one likes a quitter, I mean absolutely no one
Raheem Brock: I honestly can say I liked Brock over the years, has great speed and awareness and just seems like a household name on the Colts D.
Michael Toudoze: Many Colts fans might not see it, but here’s one guy that can help revamp our troubled running offense.
