Before I start this conversation I'd like to give credit to Bob Kravitz for his article: "Colts took season as far as they could take it." After reading some of the blogs and responses on here I have to say I'm not surprised at where the finger-pointing is going as well as the outcome of the game. I said in a previous blog that I didn't think the Colts would go very far this year in the playoffs (if they made it) and for the same reasons Bob Kravitz stated in his article. Given the type of year the Colts have had, it should be no surprise with the outcome of last Saturdays game. Yet the fanaticism of everyone caught up in "the greatness of Manning" have already started the finger-pointing and made coach Caldwell the scapegoat for blame. "The Colts lost the game because of the stupid time out by Caldwell." "We need a new coach!" "Bring in Gruden!" Are you serious? You want to blame Caldwell for the loss against the Jets because of an ill-advised late time out? I have a question for all you "geniuses" out there who are bashing the coach. Did Caldwell give up 160+ yards on the ground? Is Caldwell the reason why Manning ignored the best receiver we have for almost the entire game? Was he the reason why "The Blair White project" dropped a crucial pass that would have given us a 1st down late in the 4th qtr that would have all but sealed the deal? Was Caldwell the reason Colts special teams gave up a 40+ yard KOR by Cromartie? No on all counts. BTW Have all you freakin morons forgotten that the Colts have 15 starters on IR? What about the bone-headed running into the kicker by Smith? Yet you want to blame "Caldwell" for the time out call....
The problem with a lot of Indy fans is most of you wouldn't dare blame Peyton for any loss. But the truth is regardless of how good Revis is, you make him earn his paycheck. Especially when you have a WR of Wayne's caliber. Reggie was fuming after the game and had every right to be. That has nothing to do with Caldwell. That has to do with Manning. As a Colts fan I'm not afraid to hold Peyton accountable in this loss because he is part of the team and part of the blame. Him ignoring Reggie for the entire game has nothing to do with coach Caldwell's "time out." And for those of you who thought I was insane for suggesting the Colts tank for better draft positioning who said "moving up 8-12 spots in the draft wouldn't make a difference" I have a better answer for you. Apparently staying 8-12 spots back won't do a damn thing either as I don't think I saw a single Donald Brown or Jerry Hughes sighting during the loss to the Jets. What good is a 1st round pick that doesn't play? You draft 1st rounders to be either starters or big time contributors AS ROOKIES. They make the big bucks so therefore they play the game and earn their checks from day one. Now we can all look forward to another boring off-season as I'm sure the Colts won't chase any big name free agents to improve their roster. Asomugha would look good in aColts uniform and a drastic improvement over Hayden or Lacey. http://www.indystar.com/article/20110109/SPORTS15/101090385/Kravitz-Colts-took-season-far-they-could-take-it?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|Colts
