Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

Mcafeevinny

It's been kind of a rough year for Pat McAfee. At one point during the season, he got a little pissy with us. Then, he got drunk and was arrested for nearly killing himself swimming in a frozen, polluted canal. The arrest prompted a one-game suspension, and since returning from that suspension his punting and kickoffs haven't looked quite right. But, it all doesn't matter, and the reason why is that Pat is a genuine good guy. Seriously, look at that smile. How can you not love the guy? He looks so lovingly goofy posing with his idol, Adam Vinatieri, after the Colts clinched the AFC south yesterday.

Here's to hoping Pat continues smiling in the post-season.

The comments in a post are great when the stuff posted by annoying idiots is deleted, which explains why a recent jerk-off set of comments was removed. Just letting people know that we kind of delete comments that, you know, lie and insult us. Fair warning.

nevermind, I figured it out, it must not be an insult,

because it wouldn’t make any sense to insult people, and then tell them they’re not allowed to insult us back.

Insult

Nope. Just an observation based on inappropriate action.

I guess you were trying to reveal some kind of great double standard, or something. Didn’t work. Sorry.

I am genuinely confused.

Why do I get a warning for calling you an annoying idiot?

Marima's comment

Wasn’t a lie. Way to be delusional. Good luck with the site. I’m sure your inflammatory, sensationalist comments get you a lot of page hits. I’m sure this will get me banned, but I’m fine with it. I’m not coming back to a site that makes colts fans look bad.

by WaynesWorld on Jan 4, 2011 1:01 PM EST up reply actions

No problem

I’m not going top ban you for threatening to leave. That would sort of be dumb. I’ll just thank you for visiting.

Some writing notes:

Stop with the parenthetical phrases! They, you know, get on my nerves!

Also, maintain some professionalism. Using the term “jerk-off” as the site administrator is both unbecoming and embarrassing.

Some responses

Thanks for the notes. My, you know, is… yeah, no.

Second, we, you know, kind of call ‘jerk-offs’ jerk-offs around here. You this is not ‘professional’ enough for you, read a fucking newspaper. They don’t curse there. They don’t use parenthetical phrases, and their writing is dull, old, and boring. Might be up your alley.

And they have to fact check.

Good idea.

You are becoming more delusional every day.

Actually

No they don’t. They pretty much write what they want, regardless of fact. We’ve pointed that out countless times here.

Sorry, were you looking in the mirror when you accusing someone of being delusional?

Oh please.

Your whole “do as I say and not as I do” (in as far as insulting people) and “mis”-remembering the actual tone and content of the original McAfee post – you know the one, the one that had Robert Mathis asking all of his followers not to follow Stampede Blue – is the delusional part.

My only delusion relates to my fantasy stalking of Peyton Manning, thankyouverymuch.

Oh, by the way, the “boring” newspapers which will soon be gone can also get sued for libel when they are proven incorrect and without merit…you, on the other hand aren’t held to any standards.

Do As I Say

Come on. When have I ever told people to simply do as I say, not as I do? I simply ask people not to insult each other or the site’s writers. You can call a suggestion or an opinion I make ‘silly’ or ‘dumb’ or ‘idiotic’ as long as you back it up with reasons WHY? Simply saying ’that’s dumb,’ and offering no real reasoning is a reader just being an ass. Maybe, to you, that’s me randomly ‘insulting’ someone. to me, that’s a person who is just trolling.

And don’t ask me to explain the difference between calling an idea I suggest ‘dumb’ and calling me personally ‘dumb.’ I simply ask that people don’t insult each other, or the writers here, based solely on an opinion. How hard is that?

Regarding ‘boring’ newspapers and libel, just like them I too can be sued for such things. I haven’t. Know why? Because I haven’t done it. I guess Pat McAfee could sue me for libel or slander or something because this is a ‘free’ country and all. He didn’t. Know why? Because he knew he’d lose. Know why?

Because no one misrepresented him, or misquoted him, or mis-anythinged him.

I wrote an opinion article based off a Tweet he made. He didn’t like that opinion, got mad, and started spouting a bunch of silly nonsense that no one took too seriously, save some crazy fans here who hang on the words of players they’ve never met. Nothing more than to it than that.

Now, as I believe I mentioned in one of my follow-up articles to this, things happened behind the scenes prior to Pat’s explosion on Twitter that I promised Pat I would never mention on this blog. You’ll just have to take my word on that.

Regarding Robert Mathis, the funny thing about his little rant was no one listened to him. I still have access to many player’s Tweets. Robert is a good guy, but he is a bit over-sensitive. He reads Stampede Blue all the time, and loves it when we write good stuff about him. He then gets really pissed when we, you know, call him out on the fact he got his butt dominated by a no-name Saints right tackle in Super Bowl 44. Like many players, he doesn’t like it when people write critical things about him and his team. He’s protective.

But, the paradox here is being critical is kind of what we bloggers do.

We love guys like Pat, Robert, and most Colts players. But, we aren’t unpaid PR managers here. When they do good, we cheer for them. When you screw up, we call them out. Most of the time, players don’t care is random fans make critical observations. however, because Stampede Blue is so widely read and talked about, Colts players are damn near paranoid as to what we write about them.

But what does it really matter anyway?

About Pat's kicking

it has not been all the great, and I am starting to think that it might of been something in the water. Serious, something crawled up his nose! Just hope he blows it out before the Jets game, because his fucking kicking blows.

by chihoosierguy on Jan 4, 2011 7:24 PM EST reply actions

It is possible he's been nursing some illness

Also possible it’s a coaching thing: telling him to kick em short so that the coverage can catch up to the punts.

Or he might just have lost his “mojo” whatever that is.

Whatever the reason, he sure hasn’t been booming them like he used to sniffle
