No, The Colts Did Not Trade For Hakeem Nicks
Just received this from the Colts:
The link you forwarded was not real and was never on our site. Evidently, it was mocked up by someone who created a "broken link" which does not go to the club site. I hope this explains.
I think most of us thought something like this was the reason Hakeem Nicks suddenly was a hot jersey fans could buy at the Pro Shop. Though, Matt Grecco astutely remarked upon hearing this reasoning from the Colts:
they need to beef up their security a little bit, if that is the case... That shouldn't happen
I would be remiss if I did not say that the Colts passed on Hakeem Nicks in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft. They took (gulp) Donald Brown.
Nicks has 126 catches for 1842 yards and 17 TDs in his two-year career.
Donald Brown has 778 at 3.8 a carry with 5 TDs in two years.
Just throwing that out there.

Hindsight is indeed lovely.
Having watched a lot of Giants games recently, this still absolutely kills me.
AKA Conqueror.
I can only find one jersey for Hakeem Nicks on the NYG’s website. Meanwhile most other skill players have several options and more sizes available…
Coincidence? Probably. I’m just saying.
rec'd for the comment about running to the hills, lol

Good point, Collie and Brown in my opinion, I guess I’m in the minority of people not ready to label Donald Brown a bust. If memory serves, his last start in a must win game against Jacksonville didn’t go to badly…
True
He then got benched behind Dominic Rhodes, Joesph Addai, and Mike Hart for the rest of the season.
BTW: Take away that one game against the Jaguars, and Brown’s 2010 rushing average drops to 3.2 a carry.

Yes, I am sure it would dip down. Take away one of his more poor performances and it would go up. But what would be the point of doing any of those things?
True
but he also had monster yards per catch, and displayed great hands.
Anyone who has a problem with Joseph should stop watching Colts football. It's unfair to expect a back to replace Edge, and Addai has been excellent in all areas when he is healthy.

Monster is an understatement. For a Colts RB it was amazing.
I think it is too early to call him a bust. Also, Nicks has missed games due to injury in both of the last two years (not a lot of games, but still). He’s not exactly the greatest thing to happen to the NFL or anything.
EVH+DLR=BFFs........ God I Hope So!!
When Rhodes Addai, Hart, and Brown
were all healthy Polian said on his show that he thought certain backs would be deployed based upon their strengths versus the defensive fronts they were faced with. It’s worth considering (even though it’s water under the bridge) that Brown wasn’t “benched” for his performance. Maybe they were rewarding Rhodes instead of punishing Brown

Easy!
I’ll take Collie and DB, any day. Collie is going to be a true #1 WR next year and DB has his moments. As for specifically Collie, next year when he’s truly healthy, he’ll put up some huge numbers. He almost had more yards (649 in ’10, 679 in ’09) and had one more TD (8 in ’10, 7 in ’09) in 9 games then he did in 16 via ’09.
Like Wiz Khalifa says, “Black and yellow, black and yellow!” Next year it’s going to be “Clark and Collie, Clark and Collie!” Can’t wait for next year… If there is a next year =(!
Go COLTS!!!
Brown was hampered by a hamstring the whole season
Could no one else see this. He sat out early due to it, then everyone else got hurt and he had to play. He was the only one healthy enough to play and even then not at full strength. He had no burst whatsoever. I can’t fault the guy for trying his best in that situation. The line produced no holes and what he had gotten through last year, he didn’t have the burst to do this year. Give him a break. Let’s see how he does next year. RB, while the easiest to scout for the pros, is also the one position hardest to play when hurt. It requires everything to be ok otherwise it is very difficult to play it well.

Nicks and Greene
They could have taken Nicks in round 1 and Shonn Greene at the end of the 2nd. I believe he went early third to the NYJ. But, like everyone else is saying, hindsight is 20-20. However, i do remember Peyton saying he was shocked Polian didn’t draft Nicks because Polian had told him that was his guy.
Greene doesn't fit what the Colts do
Last season, he didn’t catch his first pass of the year until the Playoffs. He also is pretty bad at pass blocking. Each of these things are vital for a Colts RB.

I'd rather just fling poo............
