NFL Playoffs: Colts Wild Card Weekend Injury Report- Thursday

NASHVILLE TN - DECEMBER 09: Dominic Rhodes #30 of the Indianapolis Colts catches a pass before the NFL game against the Tennessee Titans at LP Field on December 9 2010 in Nashville Tennessee. (Photo by Andy Lyons/Getty Images)

The Thursday evening injury report has to be treated like a regular Friday report. This means that if you see people's names in the 'No Participation' area, chances are they will not play tomorrow in the playoffs.

No Participation: Al Afalava, Ryan Diem, Kelvin Hayden, Mike Newton, Dominic Rhodes, Jamey Richard, and Clint Session

Limited Participation: Antonio Johnson, Reggie Wayne

Full Participation: Dwight Freeney, Robert Mathis, and Daniel Muir

So, it's very possible that key players Dom Rhodes, Ryan Diem, and Kelvin Hayden will not play against the Jets. Of the three, I think Dom is the biggest loses. Since Rhodes has arrived, the running game (and the team overall) has had a different attitude.

As I stated in the fanshot, too many setbacks

Session practiced last week, and now, he is unable to do it.

Hayden had a setback a few weeks ago and still can’t go.

Afalava was full yesterday, and wasn’t ready or had a setback, so he can’t replace Newton on ST.

With the Jets probably being in max protection mode, I really hope, Coyer dials up some tight double coverages for the Jets receivers. And to play ST, maybe Chick should be brought up from PS. He is with the team since March, so can play ST.

I read on another blog an hour ago that Dom will play Saturday

Dom said he would — he sat because he’s sore. Whether will be allowed to is another story.

Correct me if I'm wrong...

but Mike Hart is supposed to play, correct?
If that’s the case, then losing Rhodes might not be as impactful.

On a side note, I caught a ESPN Classic game between Ohio State and Michigan. Mike Hart was shredding the Buckeyes D. That dude was a beast in college.

Hopefully they are just resting up for the game... HOPEFULLY..

Anyway, I thought of a good sign for saturday…
You know how Rex is always like “I like people to hate us, cause that means we’re a good team.”
Well we should make a sign that says, “We don’t hate you cause you’re good, Rex. We hate you cause you’re FAT!” Or something along those lines. Lol… wait is that politically incorrect?

Actually, I can't say I hate Ryan....

he’s certainly entertaining. And, in a recent Star article (copied from another publication I believe), Ryan says Manning is the most studied and smartest quarterback. He said Brady is not. And, added that Brady gets assitance from Belichick. Ya gotta love those insightful comments.

This little piece of information from rotoworld seems to suggest that Rhodes will play...

“Dominic Rhodes (hip) confirmed that he will play against the Jets despite sitting out practice Wednesday and Thursday. ’I’m fine,’ said Rhodes. ‘[Sitting out of practice] is just precautionary. I wouldn’t miss [the game].’ Rhodes averaged 12.3 carries and 57.3 yards in the final three games while the Colts increased their average rushing yards per game to 149. Jan. 7 (Source: Terre Haute Tribune-Star)”

Obviously, I don’t know how credible this source is, but right now I fully expect Rhodes to play. It seems more likely that Diem won’t play, and according to the New York Post, Linkenbach would replace him: “Colts coach Jim Caldwell was tight-lipped about Diem’s availability but admitted he has identified a replacement in rookie Jeff Linkenbach.”

Linkenbach, huh?

That would be a good audition for him for next year. One would have to think that Diem and his $6 million salary will not be back…

When asked to play

Linkenbach has played very well at the tackle positions when asked…. so I don’t expect any kind of drop off….and considering the false starts by Diem, not really a loss…

Is it to early to tell Jon Torine to start cleaning out his office?

Tell him while we appreciate the last 13 years you seem to have lost your touch.

home field

How do the Colts get Homefield when the Jets have the better record or is it because Goodell dont want see Manning crying that he had to play outdoors in the only playoff game he’s playing this yr?

First time you ever followed the NFL???

Division winners host the Wild Card teams. It’s always been that way, you douche.
In fact, the 12-4 Colts had to play a playoff game at 8-8 San Diego just a couple years ago.
The Commish didn’t even change it so that Peyton could play at home— can you believe it???
