A lot will be said about this loss. Many will blame Caldwell for the end of the first half. Many will blame Taj Smith. Many will write it off to injuries. In the end, it was our Achilles heel, special teams.
I don't blame this on Taj. It was a dumb play. Not one arguement there. The problem I have is he was just playing hard like he has all year and he screwed up. It's the rest of the crew that continuously gives up big plays week after week. This unit has been neglected for years and for years it has come back on us. Who can forget squibbing to Devin Hester in the SB.
On a further note, what is up with the third quarter collapses? It has absolutely nothing to do with talent. A team should be able to play at roughly the same level in the third quarter as before the half. We come out flat every time.
In the end, we got outplayed. Even when their QB tried to giftwrap one for us. They improved their team in the offseason, and we let people go. They identified their weaknesses and we put on a blindfold. Throw in the season from hell where players dropped like fies and we end up here. It's a damn miracle we came this far. It does not say much for the Jets that they beat us. They squeeked by a crippled team that was lucky to be here. All and all, I'm not dissapointed. We saw the signs for miles. We got exactly what we deserved.
