I'm tired of the cover 2.  Every year we watch other teams control the ball, run it down our throats, and pick apart the secondary.  We rank towards the bottom in D every year for a reason.  Freeny and Mathis come through at times and are fun to watch...but then the next game they are useless as the QB gets rid of the ball before they get there.  The defense stops the run one week...only to give up a buck fifty the next.  The defense is sure fun to watch while those small quick guys are flying all over the field..but halfway through the season half of those players are broken and we have the all star practice squad out there.  Luckily we have Manning who masks our pain ...could you imagine what he could do with a good defense? 

I think after this season we should look at the 3-4.  4 of the 5 top scoring defenses this year run that system.  Tough choices will have to be made including probably not resigning Mathis and cutting Freeny but is it really worth paying 25 million for two guys who are getting up there in age and a liability against the run? 

It would take some time to transition but It couldn't be any worse than watching what we watched against the Saints..

Keep Powers and Bathea....you will have 50 mil by releasing Freeny, Brackitt, Bullit, not resigning Mathis and having Hayden and Sanders contracts come off the book...and go build a D we can be proud of
