Performace Evaluation for Polians

Most professionals are subject to some sort of yearly performance evaluation. This is, and should not be, any different for professional athletes and sports executives. Check out my performance evaluation of both Polians and their tenure with the Colts.  =

Bill Polian (1997- Present) Team President, Vice Chairman  Overall: B

Future Hall of Famers

Peyton Manning essentially told Polian he would beat them for the next 15 years unless he drafted him, Polian wisely obliged.   Jeff Saturday Dwight Freeney  Edgerrin James  Reggie Wayne

Franchise Starters

Hunter Smith (Best Punter in Franchise History), Ryan Diem, Dallas Clark, Cato June, Robert Mathis ( 2nd Best Pass Rusher in Franchise History), Bob Sanders (07 NFL DPOY), Joesph Addai, Charlie Johnson, Antoine Bethea, Jacob Tamme (saved 2010 season), Jerraud Powers.

Franchise Undrafted Free Agents

Jeff Saturday, Gary Brackett, Justin Snow, Dominic Rhodes.

Up and Coming Stars

Jacob Tamme, Pierre Garcon, Jerraud Powers, Austin Collie, Pat McAfee, Pat Angerer

1st-3rd Round Busts

Rob Morris 2000, Marlin Jackson 2005 (Besides 06 AFC Championship INT vs Pats), Kelvin Hayden 2005 (Besides 06 Super Bowl INT vs Bears), Anthony Gonzales 2007, Tony Ugoh 2007 (waste of 08 1st Rounder), Quinn Pitcock 2007, Mike Pollack 2008, Donald Brown 2009, Fili Moala 2009, Jerry Hughes 2010.

Free Agent Signings

Mike Vanderjagt, Adam Vinatieri

Trades

Marshall Faulk- 2nd and 5th (used to draft LB Mike Peterson and DE Brad Scioli)

Booger McFarland- Won us a Superbowl

Analysis: Bill's grade would probably be an A in Indy if not for his record of 1-3 round busts, mainly since 05.

Chris Polian (1998- Present) Director of Pro Personnel, Vice-President, General Manager Overall: C+

Future Hall of Famers

None, and not enough time to grade this.

Franchise Starters

None (See above)

Franchise Undrafted Free Agents

None (See above again)

Up and Coming Stars

Anthony Castonzo, Ben Ijalana, Drake Nevis, Delone Carter

1st-3rd Round Busts

None (Yet)

Free Agent Signings

Kerry Collins-Yikes

Trades

None

Analysis: Chris' grade in Indy is slightly lower than his fathers because lack of input, yet we still blame him for some of the recent draft busts because he had major input. Oh and also he is currently 0-7 in his first year as GM.
