Jeff Taking Shots At Me

Yes, I'm aware of Jeff Saturday's boorish and silly shots taken at yours truly today. I've been in my mother's basement office all day writing an article about possible G.M. and coaching candidates for the Colts seeing as, you know, Jim Caldwell is going to get fired and the Polian Clan should be sent packing with him. While in the middle of this article, my buddy Joel Thorman calls me and says, 'Did you see what Jeff Saturday said about you?'

For the last few hours, I've been reading what he said, following up with those on the call, answering emails from people asking me why Jeff Saturday is acting like a penis, and so on.

I'll have a more thorough response tomorrow morning for your reading pleasure. Regardless of what Jeff said, I still like and respect him. However, he was not misquoted. And, seriously, his team is 0-7. His legacy, along with the legacies of Reggie Wayne, Dwight Freeney, Robert Mathis, and Dallas Clark, has taken a major hit. The meme prior to 2011 was this team was low average sans Peyton Manning.

Now, the meme is this team SUCKS sans Manning.

And considering the Colts are coming off the most embarrassing loss in franchise history this past Sunday, don't you think the absolute last thing on Jeff Saturday's mind should be whether or not his quoted word 'outcoached' was taken out of context? That's your priority topic of discussion right now, Jeff? Really?

Just when you thought this season couldn't get any worse, or silly.

Anyway, in the spirit of good fun (because god knows I need a laugh now), kindly use this FanPost to follow in Jeff Saturday's footsteps. Go head. Take shots at me. I'll give points to those of you who come up with creative and funny insults. The terms of posting guidelines are lifted for this one FanPost. The only exceptions are no racial, sexist, or religious attacks or insults, please.

Your momma jokes though are strongly encouraged. Have at it.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors.

I don't care who is right or wrong..

If Saturday and the Colts showed the same passion and fire as he did in his immature rant (since lets face it if BBS or any other blogger said that about a player then you be tearing them a new one calling them unprofessional) then the Colts would be undefeated. Fact is the Colt “leaders” left on the team have not stood up and took control of this team. I’ve seen more fire in Peyton’s face on the sideline then the players on the field. But then again I be upset if I knew that my final year in Indy would be on a terrible team. He can say people “twisted his words” but those words came out of his mouth. The national media and SEVERAL Colts fans and others read into that as well. Tired of athletes saying its ALL OF US who got it wrong when maybe they need to have a PR person at their side to provide them the PC thing to say.

Maybe Saturday needs another hug from Bill Kraft.

Best Diss Right Here

Yo momma is Hank Baskett.

But seriously, Jeff Saturday has every right to call you out or any blogger. He’s one of the most respected men in football today.

Well

After that little rant of his, he lost some respect. It simply was uncalled for, and he either lied to the media today saying he was misquoted (because he clearly wasn’t), or he’s too stupid not know what being misquoted actually is.

Anyway, more yo momma jokes, please.

He may have lost some respect from bloggers

But he has not lost the respect of most fans. He definitely didn’t lose the respect of the NFL or the players. And I can bet that he now has more respect from the Colts locker room.

Yes, it was uncalled for, but eventually, BBS, when you play with fire, you will get burned. And just hear me out, if your writing continues to be like this, Jeff Saturday won’t be the only one to take a shot at you, and as for your reputation, well you can kiss that goodbye.

I agree Jeff lasn't lost leadership in his lockerroom or among the fanbase.

He’s a bona fide cornerstone of the franchise and will be in the “ring of honor” some day (if he’s not, the ring of honor is meaningless). His influence is felt league-wide.

That article is a misquote!!!

It says Saturday said “who lives in his mother’s basement” but he really said “probably lives.”

that’s from the tennessee titans official website.

I dont read this blog often

But when the captain of your team calls you out
There’s a serious problem

by mississippisaintsfan on Oct 27, 2011 8:30 AM EDT reply actions   1 recs

Take a close look.

The Colts got shellacked 62-7 and it could have been 82-7. I’d say the problem is with the team, not a blogger.

by Ayrshire on Oct 27, 2011 9:03 AM EDT up reply actions

yeah, but

you can’t seriously believe 63 intended to go to the media with comments designed to call out his coach or cause dissension in the lockerroom. He pointed fingers at everybody in that full quote. If he wants to stir stuff up, he can do it right there IN the lockerroom, face-to-face, and has plenty of clout to do so. He doesn’t need be passive-aggressive through the media.

You certainly werent mad after the game when you were laughin your balls off with Brees on the field!!!! What a freakin joke

In all honesty, I think you owe Jeff

an apology, and us too. That quote needed to be left in context. The intent of Saturday’s comments were much, much different than you portrayed. You do a good job on this blog, but that was very misleading. Bad reporting. C’mon, just ADMIT it man! Shake his hand in cyberspace and apologize.

BBS,

"I guess no one told him justice was a team sport"

by 88steve on Oct 27, 2011 10:05 AM EDT reply actions

BBS misquoted Saturday in his post and refuses to own up to it .... it's that simple.

When you quote only part of a man’s sentence, and the part you leave out is significant to the meaning of that sentence, that’s a misquote. It’s unethicall and not the right way to treat other people. When you cite to a Twitter post from a third party – which is what BBS did – you are responsible to check the veracity of what you are quoting or run the risk of a misquote. Brad Wells (aka BBS) took that risk because he basically doesn’t care what his words or actions do to other people. There are ethical people who work as jounalists and bloggers, who try to do the right thing and treat other people with respect. Brad Wells is not one of those people. He’s not alone. There are other bloggers/media folks who have taken the low path as well. When a person of the caliber of Jeff Saturday (a guy who is respected league-wide for his character) calls you out for an ethical breach, most people in Brad’s position would pause and consider whether they need to contact Jeff – whether to apologize or to merely understand what went wrong. But not Brad Wells. He merely sees vindication – his actions must have be right because, after all, the only thing that matters is drawing eyeballs to his blog. Well, Brad can live to his own ethical standards. That’s his right. But I’m no longer going to encourage him by reading his work. This reader will move on to other blogs.

"I had incredible sex with Angelina Jolie last night"

Full quote: “I had incredible sex with Angelina Jolie last night. Then I woke up from my dream.”
Things can read totally different if taken out of context with only part of a quote.
I am not usually a basher of BBS or anyone’s opinions but I think he was wrong on this one.

"Screw the NBA, where is my red, white and blue basketball"

by PV Mike on Oct 27, 2011 2:49 PM EDT reply actions

You can both be right (and both be wrong) here....

I don’t mean to imply that the use of the term “outcoached” isn’t news, because it is…

but in the context of the full quote, given the time at which it was spoken, what Jeff said is really not that big a deal, and not a direct shot across the bow of the coach he has worked with for years.

Stirring the pot and taking shots at the organization is what you’re known for. There’s no point trying to deny it. You play things up in whatever way suits your purpose. In this case, you’re not wrong to suggest that it’s news, but you’re also guilty of overdoing it. And that overdoing it led to him having to field more questions about it than he might have otherwise (and possibly led to him having to endure a meeting/scolding with his boss(es)). And that stuff led to him getting upset and taking an obvious (and tired) cheap shot.

But there’s a way to handle it that smoothes things over and avoids conflict, and there’s a way to handle it that involves whining, making it all about you, and escalating it. You chose the latter. I understand why, of course, but I also disagree with it.
