Point of clarification going forward
If you team loses it's QB and goes 1-15. It wasn't a good team to begin with. if the best QB in history can make your 1-15 team go 10-6 and get to the first round of the playoffs. It still doesn't mean it was a good team. It just means you had an exceptional player carry a bad team.
Thinking along these lines will frame many arguments about the actual state of the Colts franchise TODAY.

Nice you see that you’ve just woken up from your month long coma.
While I agree with the sentiment of your post
There is no way to know if Peyton would have a winning record with this team. When the Colts lost games over the past few years (and they did), it was usually because the line would not give him but a second or two to dump the ball off in the flat. After a while the defense would inch up and shut that down as they continued to be physical and pressure Peyton.
Yes Peyton handled it better than the average bear, but when this was executed well against us it shut us down. Of course there were the Colts defense crater episodes where even Manning couldn’t keep up, etc.
Besides, we aren’t 1-15. If we finish 8-8 we will have to re-assess.

Agreed we will need to re-assess after we know what the final record will be
The reason I made the post is because I still see people saying that the only problem this team has is Peyton Manning is injured. My contention is that Peyton Manning being so great has masked how bad the rest of this roster has been for the last couple of years.
I’m strictly looking for silver linings at this point.
And if Peyton getting hurt means we get a better front office and draft Peyton’s successor all in the same year. Then it’s probably a small price to pay.
