Week 8 Stampede Blue Fantasy/Picks Update

CHARLOTTE, NC - OCTOBER 30: I know I would have NEVER guess Cam Newton would be the second highest point scorer in the league so far. (Photo by Scott Cunningham/Getty Images)

An interesting week in the Straight Up contest this week as only 4 Underdogs won their matchups.  Three readers led the way with 10 out of 13 games correct.  (CrazyBlueSniffer, Big Ben's Bathroom Blitz, and MaximumBob).  Once again we had a game that no one got correct.  As I'm sure you guessed, it was the Rams taking it to the Saints (how bad did that make YOU feel as a Colts fan?).   On the other end of the spectrum, all readers got teh Ravens over the Cardinals and only 2 people picked the Dolphins and Jaguars respectively.  Overall, G-string still leads by one game with a record of 82-34.

Against the Spread this week was mean to Stampede Blue readers (I know I have the worst week of my life only getting 3 games correct).  As a group we only got 44% of the game correct.  Only 4 games had more than 50% of the submissions get the game correct.  Vegas woulda cleaner up on us!  Best for the wee was Spread Eagles with 11 out of 13 correct a full two games ahead of second.  Overall, The Lawn Wrangler moved into first place with a record of 63-47.

Fantasy information after the jump.  Remember you can check out each of the fantasy leagues at http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/league/stampedeblueleagueX where X is a number between 1 and 13.

Star-divide

This week we saw one of our undefeated teams fall and two of our winless teams get beaten by some of the largest margins of the year.  The highest point total of the week goes to The Bus Drivers in league 4 who knocked off formerly unbeaten The Gob Bluths with 180.8 points.  League 7 and 10 saw win-less teams lose by 119.55 106.7 points respectively.

The closest game this week came from League 11 where Commander_N_Chief lost to ackley by0.05 points.  Ackley rode 33 points from Cam newton and 35 points from Steven Jackson to hold on for the win.  They didn't even have a kicker in there and still won the week.

Special note that in league 1 we had another deplorable on blogger on blogger violence as mgrex's Statistical Anomaly wiped BBS by 21 points.  The Statistical Anomaly teams went 8 and 5 this week in one of the better weeks he has had so far this season.

Overall point leader is still the Purple Swirlies from league 12 who is still averaging a remarkable 156.65 points per game.  that team has 6 players who have score more than 100 points on the season and two more that are over 80 but none of the 5 players who have scored over 200 points on the season (Aaron Rodgers, Cam Newton, Drew Brees, Matthew Stafford, Tom Brady) .  What a great draft!

Good luck this week!
