Donald Brown has earned the job.
The Colts expected to find a impact player in the 2009 1st Round pick in running-back, Donald Brown. Simply put, he has not been a impact player. Last Sunday, the team had the same goal of Week 1 and that was to win a game without Peyton Manning. Donald Brown, who is usually considered "useless" , shows us he deserves a chance to start with a memorable game. The Colts were 0-13 facing division rival, Titans, with the game on the line the team hands the ball to Donald Brown. He takes it all the way into the end-zone for a amazing 80 yard touchdown to effectively end the end and the Colt's losing streak. According to ESPN, he finished the day with 161 rushing yards, 2 yards receiving, and one touchdown. Factoring out that 80 yard run, He ran for 81 yards on 15 carries leaving his average run of 5.4 yards per attempt. After the jump...more on why he earned the job...
By all means, he has not been consistent with his vision of finding gaps being a huge concern. The last two games should determine if he gets to start alongside either our possible future QB Andrew Luck, another rookie QB,our current franchise QB and GOAT Peyton Manning. Although Joseph Addai was resigned last off-season with the combined dilemna around Manning/Luck, his body's health, and the most important is he doesn't get huge yards per game in a PEYTON-MANNING less year ( Our pass-run may be the same but he doesn't seem to break long runs). If we do get Luck a combo of Carter,Brown seems better for Luck's whole career as both are young and less wear-and-tear compared to Addai. When was the last time Addai, who also was a late first round pick, rush for 100 yards in a regular season game? Addai has not ran for over 90 yards this year the closest being a 86 yard day vs the Steelers. The answer is Week 15 vs the Redskins. Needless, to say Brown should be the featureback unless we can get someone who beats him.

he has earned
his paycheck for once. dude is still a backup to addai
With a much more solid O-Line
Addai and Brown both could have multiple 100 yard rushing games, this O-Line has become better at pass blocking but the run blocking is still quite horrid.
Colts fan since Tony Dungy's 48th Birthday.
Free will is an illusion, but pragmatically, the illusion of self (ego), choice, freedom, consciousness, are all necessary for the game or struggle to move. No struggle, no universe.
Get well soon, Peyton Manning
I like all three of 'em
Salary cap notwithstanding, I think these guys compliment each other well. I never considered Brown a bust, just a guy with limited opportunity and a little slow to develop. Don’t really care who starts, but for the rest of the season, I’d like to see all three get their share of carries. I’d also like to see them get more receptions in the passing game, what there is of it.
If anyone of you remember the offensive line that Uconn used for Browns junior year when he rushed for a ridiculous 2,083 yards, You will see that he performs better with a blocking fullback.
Which is why sometimes people question the logic of the Colts FO drafting him when Peyton led offenses don’t feature a blocking fullback. “We’re a passing quick release team” and a poor running team. Circumstances this year have forced the offensive to retool and play to the strengths of our current healthy players.
Some of Browns inconsistency is due to the stupidity of the coaches, when they decide to pull Brown for addai when Brown is averaging more than 4.3 yards a carry. The philosophy of switching Addai for Brown makes sense when Manning is under center and its 3rd and long.
Not when we have the QBs we have. Which is why many people sometimes accuse the Colts coaches of tanking. Why sabotage yourself if you are really trying to win? You ned to gain 2 yards or 3 yards. Your running back is average more than 4.3 yards per carry then you switch him out to bring in a gimpy Addai to pas block who spends more time hoping and juking for no gain if the pass heads his way. The opposing coaches are not stupid, they know our QB is not Peyton manning so they play straight defense and make sure everyone is covered, no one will stupidly blitz because they know how inaccurate our current QB’s are.
As confused as a baby in a topless bar.

Got some good points right there.
Can’t fault any of your post. Good one.
DVOA
According to football outsider’s metrics Donald Brown in #1 in rushing DVOA which is pretty darn impressive.
DB is improving
I agree with some of the earlier posts in saying that we need to let DB carry the ball 20-25 times a game and see how he does. We can’t label him a bust when he hasn’t gotten an opportunity. It also frustrates me that it took FO and coaching staff 14 games to realize that a fullback can help your run game.
I like our current system
What we have right now is a good plan for the future. Addai has fantastic pass-blocking and pass-catching skills that override his 2-3 yards per carry. He’s useful in a lot of situations Peyton’s in. Brown is much more explosive, and he should come in for a spark. I’m also fine with him starting for running purposes and screens, but I’d rather have Addai in when the RB needs to block. As for 3rd and short, Carter has proven that he can turn into a freight train, who happens to spin and juke like a champ. He’s earned those tough carrying opportunities. All in all, I’m happy with our RB situation how it is.
