Dan-O has just changed everything. The Colts now have a "Pro" QB in Orlovsky-not my words-Bill Polian today-that sounds like a backup plan. So if they have a serviceable backup who can win games they may not be so inclined to take a QB with the first pick. Yes I said it, here is why.
Here is my Scenario- as I see it today. Colts lose and get the 1st pick.
Polian complains with some validation that picking at the end of the first round for 10 years sucks(it sucks like Jerry Hughes sucks)-so he may want as many high level picks as possible.
Peyton is healthy- I think we all know deep inside that he will be back- with a vengeance too.
The Colts get offers from Cleveland and Miami for multiple picks. I wouldn't be surprised if the Colts get two 1st and 2 seconds for the first pick. Maybe more. (Cleveland has all of those Falcon picks to offer)
With that the Colts have a 1st around 5-10 and two top level 2nd round picks this year and two first round picks next year.
Now the Colts have some glaring needs.
1. Shutdown corner- The Colts will take a corner with the first pick
2. Safety- I can see this being a solid second round area.
2. QB- Polian will have mind melded with some QB that he thinks is the next QB and will select him in the second round.
3rd round- Center
4th DL
5th- CB
6th CB
7th CB
The 2012 Colts have a bright future. BTW- Management will not change.
Poll
Am I smoking crack?
Yes- but only for medicinal purposes due to the Colts 2 win season (68 votes)
No- Sounds plausable- wouldn't put a similar scenario past Polian (29 votes)
