Say YES To Christmas Eve NFL Football!!!
It's Christmas Eve.
It's a Saturday.
I'm drinking egg nog while wrapping gifts. Hmmmm... what's missing?
HOLY SH*T! There's football on television today!
Lots of games are on the NFL docket today because tomorrow (Sunday) is Christmas, and the NFL is willing to cede Christmas day games to their friends at the NBA. Christmas night, however, is the Chicago Bears at the Green Bay Packers.
Anyway, today the games that will probably have the attention of most Colts fans involve the St. Louis Rams and the Minnesota Vikings. Should both team win today, the Indianapolis Colts lock up the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
Use this as your open thread for today's games. From all of us at Stampede Blue, happy holidays. Be safe, and enjoy your football-filled day.

I should have benched Brady
I picked up Andy Dalton in my fantasy league, but didn’t think I’d need him until next week.

Adrian Peterson got carted off.
Maybe giving running backs 100 million dollar contracts isn’t the best idea.

I feel bad for Peterson
but I had to laugh when they were carting him off because it looked like Stevie Wonder was driving. I was like “Oh no! He’s being driven by a blind dude!”

Can't see Vikings or Rams here
Watching little bro out-QB the Sanchize in New Jersey.

of the two remaining teams...
in the hunt for the #1 pick, the Colts are clearly the better of the two. now its time to watch the Saints game and the 49era game to see whether or not the 49ers will have a chance at a bye next week against the Rams. I don’t think STL has a chance against an SF team needing a W.

So we have the #2 pick locked up now, correct?
by Coltsfaninoklahoma1 on Dec 24, 2011 4:18 PM EST reply actions
So if the rams picked #1
What are the most likely scenarios? Is there any way they don’t take Luck or trade the pick? Seems pretty unlikely. On a team that devoid of talent you at least trade down with Washington or something. I heard on ESPiN that you could possible get three first round picks for the #1 pick this year
by Coltsfaninoklahoma1 on Dec 24, 2011 4:32 PM EST reply actions
Well they drafted Bradford #1 overall 2 years ago
I went to OU. I watched that kid play for 3 years. He’s amazing behind a real line. I can’t imagine drafting 2 qbs #1 overall just 2 years apart

But they are in an awful position to bargain.

Most teams probably know they're not taking Luck.
How does he do it?
Not necesarily
The QB-needy team could play it cool, and see whether they can get a better deal from the Rams or the Colts, since both teams (probably/hopefully) don’t need Luck next season.

Wonder if the “brain trust” will use the same logic they employed a few years ago against the Jets and the Bills. They claimed there was little to gain and everything to lose
so they rested the starters. Pride for this management was not an issue.
My question would be what would they playing for this last game of the season. Pride?
Hope no one gets hurt in a meaningless game playing for pride with a management that has none!!
Between us and Rams for next week
Need San Fran to win and NO to lose so San Fran can rest players next week cause if San Fran has to win for the 2 seed they will squash the Rams ,, Exactly,,agree with Arcade- do not play anyone with any type of injury ,,, just like 2 yrs ago!!!! And take anyone good out the 3rd and 4th quarters,, if anyone good gets a serious injury that would be inexcusable in a worthless last game,, Irsay won’t admit it but u know he would rather be 2-14 with the power of the #1 pick , than 3-13 and the #2 pick!!!!
you know that the point of "resting starters in a meaningless game" only matters for the playoffs, right?
that’s the whole point. the playoffs are everything. resting starters is EXCLUSIVELY to save them for the playoffs. if we’re not in the playoffs, there’s no further games to be resting starters for.

Just. This. Incredible.
Next Week is a perfect week
to let some of the guys who haven’t played much see a lot of action to see if they have any potential for next year . And out of respect to CP- let him start so he has one last chance for a win before his NFL career is OVER!!!! ( that will gurantee Colts the #1 pick) LOL
good suggestion
There’s absolutely no reason to win and using this game to evaluate non-starters makes sound football sense.
Let them all play and see what they’ve got.
There’s also no point in risking injury to key starters.
It’s time to look ahead to the draft and next year.
There’s lots of work to do and the Colts will need the best draft picks they can get.
yep Adrian Peterson tore his ACL yesterday.
That probably means he may not even be ready for the start of the next season, never mind the possibilities that he comes back the same runner/
AMEN
Let them be true to their philosophy,, they threw away a chance for a perfect season, so they can throw away a 3-13 and #2 pick for a 2-14 season AND THE POWER of the #1 pick and what if they discover one guy who normally wouldn’t have had a chance to play!!!!!
by OBGYNOSUPREME on Dec 25, 2011 5:16 PM EST up reply actions
They make the wrong decisions in these types of these situations.
Tank the perfect season, tank the 1st pick.
How does he do it?
And a lot of rumors going around that
J-Ville will lay down for the Colts , so Colts can’t draft Luck and torture J-Ville for the next 15 yrs. If they try to lay down, have to pull Orlovsky and put CP in right away or better yet have to start CP to counteract a J-Ville laydown!!!!
doubt it
they have coaches and players who are trying to keep jobs.
If anything I would think they would want us to get Luck, since most people seem to think that will cause some amount of turmoil, or at the very least is going to be a pick that Manning won’t be able to use against them twice a year.
