TotW: OT's, OT's, and Marvin Harrison

Hey you faithful fans. I love you all. Just saying. Joke time!

Why did the boy drop his ice cream?

He was hit by a bus.

This joke brought to you by Anti-Joke, which I discovered last week. Awesome.

Star-divide

1. As some of you may know, Candlebox and I (major kudos to Candlebox for having the initiative) have decided to host some Open Threads in the fanpost section. The purpose of these open threads is solely for the our interaction as a community of Colts fans. The Open Threads will be there for pretty much any topic, as long as it's appropriate (somewhat). The goal is to promote conversation between members of SB, especially quick back and forths as opposed to a comment every few hours. Please, feel free to participate, especially if its a boring day at work, college, etc. Or if you're just kind of an internet junkie like myself. We'll try and keep them at 5 rec's, so they stay in the FanPosts for a while. The first night (Currently the NFL Draft Talk Thread) went really well, and we hope to see more of it in the future!

2. So I've come to the conclusion that we don't necessarily need to draft an OT in the first round. I know, I know, our line reeeeeeaaaally needs improvement. I was dead set against anything but an OT for a long time. But, the more I think about it, the more I come to the conclusion that we may not necessarily go that route, nor do we need to.

As long as we draft/acquire ANY lineman that can come in and start, or be a solid insurance policy, I can see Polian go Defense/Skill position in the first 2/3 rounds. And I'll be ok with that. Looking at our line, it projects to be something along these lines (as of now). OTs: Johnson, Link. OGs: McClendon, DeVan, Pollak. C: Saturday. (Starting Rotation)

Add in a solid player there (anywhere really), and our line gets tremendously better. Especially if Pollak plays like he did at the end of the season, and Link/McClendon work out as well as Polian seems to think. We can survive with an OL like that.

3. Marvin Harrison is my favorite football player ever. Close to Manning anyway. He's a Hall-of-Fame worthy receiver, second in my opinion only to Jerry Rice. Anyway, Nate Dunleavy at 18to88.com wrote a great series comparing Harrison to Cris Carter (Peter King often compares the two, saying Harrison won't get in until Carter does). It was a brilliant article, and if you enjoy that type of thing, I'd encourage you to check out the article here.

Whatever Jesusninja

I wrote an entire article showing how awesome it would be to draft an OT in very round. Do you deny my logic? All you do is argue for the sake of arguing. You keep coming back and commenting. That’s all I need to know I speak da truth.

Move along, nothing to debate here.

Just sayin’.

Seriously, I'm with you.

I see a 1tech and a SS as more pressing needs. Don’t get me wrong I would love a new LT.

Ahh, that's the abriviation for Tony Ugoh. You know, busted left tackle.

Nice try Buttninja. As usual all you are doing is stating your opinion with nothing to back it up.

Truth hurts, don’t it. LMAO ROFL I got the page hits to prove it!

I say pick the best player at a spot we need help - OT, DT, Safety

I don’t get the feeling there is a lock at any of the positions we need where we will draft in the 1st round so we should pick the best player available.

We should draft a LT

If there is one decent enough to start, I really want Castonzo or Sherrod. That way we can move CJ back to LG or put him at RG cause of his pass blocking prowess.

Marvin Harrison is one of the best WRs ever, and it was an honor having here as a Colt, I think is the 3rd Best WR in NFL History behind Moss and Jerry Rice, but I feel Harrison and Rice were about what and what, Rice was just faster than Marvin.

I wouldn't call Randy Moss one of the best ever WR's

He employed the “offensive pass interference” a lot on many of his jump ball catches. The only problem is that offensive pass interference was not called very often back then.

Randy Moss

is the only WR that can run routes and beat triple coverage and make it look real easy, even against teams with a solid D. I have never seen Marvin Harrison do it or believe that Jerry Rice did it also.

Plus when it comes to hands, Moss is in a league of his own.

I believe Harrison is in that hands league.

Some of the best hands ever.
