Why
in the heck is Aaron Francisco still on the roster? I was hoping the Colts would make 1 or 2 moves via free agency to facilitate a return to the Superbowl (which is in Indy, in case you live under a rock). Unless Pressley turns out to be another Warren Sapp, the Colts would've been better served signing Rogers or Stroud. Now that need will still have to be addressed through the draft, reducing the option of taking the best available player on the board. I've given up any hope on Colts making any moves of consequence. With the lockout looming, it would have made plenty of sense to sign a veteran now since rookies might be irrelevant this season. Say what you want but I see the Colts doing the same as last year or worse. I reserve the right to change my opinion if the Colts come out of the draft with Carimi, Marvin Austin, Titus Young and Marcus Van Dyke!!!!!!!!

Aaron Francisco is still here because...
he only costs the team a Pez dispenser and a Wal-Mart gift card. Don’t forget he was the 3rd String Safety and will be no higher than the 2nd String this season. He is a backup. Relax, Bill Polian has no intentions of making him the starting safety or suddenly paying him like one.

Actually, Francisco was the 4th string saftey. He was brought on because Jamie Silva, the true 3rd stringer, went down for the year in the preseason.
Hahaha rec'd

The Indianapolis Colts are going to be the 1st team to win a super bowl in their own stadium. 'nuff said.
He's an FA anyway, so he didn't NEED to be released since he's not technically on the 2011 Colts roster
Don’t take Colts.com literally. If you want an updated glimpse of the 2011 Colts roster and status of FAs check wikipedia. It’s maintained really well.
Concern over the DT
All I will say is that you still have teams that will make their salary dumps still. It is not March 04, 2011 – the magical day of infamy for pro football fans. I am hoping you have the Redskins drop Haynesworth personally. Haynesworth next to Freeney, would be devestating. Plus, Albert comes on the relative cheap!
Teams are looking to dump “bad contracts” for role players and second tier guys in case of a lockout so that they don’t have to pay bloated salaries for players they don’t necessarily love or can part with. Essentially, no team wants to pay a guy an inflated contract if we don’t even play football this next year. I believe this is what happened with Bob Sanders. It is definately what happened with AJ Hawk. Shaun Rogers is probablly the same thing as well.
If you aren’t a part of the “long term vision” due to age, skill, or injury history, you are susceptible of getting cut.
So, how much do you think he would sign for to play with the Colts?
I put on my robe and wizard hat.
sorry about the last post . . . still relevant but . . .
The thing with haynesworth (if he is cut) is that he won’t get the same contract he had in Washington. Thus, you could maybe sign him to a 4 year deal at roughly $3-4 mil a year. I would say watch the contract of Brandon Mebane of Seattle. Realistically, Haynesworth’s potential salary could be something close to this.
one more thought
1) Peyton has advocated for Albert in the past
2) Albert has noted that he likes our team.
3) We run a 4-3 (This should probably actually be #2)
4) The primary thing that probably stopped us from looking at Albert before this time is that this was a “Dungy” team [That is not a slight at Dungy or his coaching style; rather, we drafted guys who were very much guys that did not / would not rock the boat on the religion issue. At minimum, our guys respected it. Now, I feel like we are opening up the draft prospect and free agent manuals a little more].
Does Haynesworth disrespect religion?
Or are you just talking about his character issues? Tony Dungy was a great football coach and he ran it in a very good way.

Clarification
I am not saying Haynesworth disrespects it. I am merely saying it can be turnoff for some guys.
I love Tony, and have his book. I am merely saying that the “Character Concerns” aren’t taking precidence the way they did when Tony was Coach – more is slidding by.
Peyton advocated for Albert?
Really? I never heard that. But I could’ve missed it.

Maybe we can get him for 2 Pez dispensers.

Most likely
Aaron Francisco will not be resigned, if we can draft Quinton Carter or Tyler Sash in the draft with decent backups in Mike Newton, Melvin Bullitt, and Jamie Silva (if he gets resigned) and we won’t be on the roster by preseason.
Hopefully, DeMario Pressley is here to take over the spot left by the horrid DT knows as Daniel Muir.

I'd say Daniel Muir is a bad NT but a good UT.

He played pretty well last year as the 3-tech DT.
I think this year he was moved to 1-tech and that didn’t work to well.

Haynesworth
Fat Albert would be good for a year then he would act like a diva again. Did you folks learn your lession in Indy? Remember the Pacers with all the talent in the world but it was full of greedy players. Tell me how that worked out. Talent does not trump everything. I exepect Fili to make a bigger impact this year. If we have another lineman that does not get manhandled by the other teams o-line our run defense will be fine. Remember this is still a Tampa-2 base defense team. This is fine because the defense is a young defense. I know we are tired of hearing about our linebacker’s maintaining gap control. But this is how the Tampa-Cover-2 defense works. You have to execute to win it is that simple. A example of someone with talent but he just is not a NFL football player is… I know the team wishes that Wheeler would develop but it is not going to happen. This is prime example of a talented player that just does not play football. He may be hustling his butt off but something is not clicking. I do not know if it lack of filmstudy, or it is him trying to due to much, or just trying to get by on his God given talent. It is more than likely all of the three. But given the choice would a take a talented person that just does not make any plays on the field but does not cause any problems with team over a talented person that makes plays when he wants and causes a boat load of issues. You see what happens when this happens.
