For you mock draft nutballs out there, my buddy Brian Galliford continues to insist the Colts will take a tackle with the No. 22 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft:
22. Indianapolis Colts: Corey Liuget, DT, Illinois. Offensive tackle is still a distinct possibility for the Colts, but Liuget is such a perfect fit for them defensively that it's tough to let him slide beyond this pick.
Liuget was Brian's pick several weeks ago. At this point, I think Brian is just cycling through the top LTs and DTs between now and late April, when he has to present his final mock draft before the actual draft.
As I always said, I agree with Brian that a DT or a LT is imperative for Indy. If the exit the first round without one, they will take heat; Justifiable heat. Colts first round picks have been dismal of late, with Jerry Hughes, Donald Brown, and Tony Ugoh (who was traded for a first rounder) all under-performing. Meanwhile, the offensive and defensive lines have regressed.
However, Bill Polian has never used a first round pick on a tackle while in Indianapolis. I don't expect him to start.
